The Moroso 20961 is a fully fabricated deep sump steel oil pan kit engineered specifically for Subaru EJ-series turbocharged engines, covering the 2002-2014 WRX, 2004-2021 STI, 2004-2013 Forester XT, 2004-2009 Outback XT, and 2004-2009 Legacy GT. Built with a precision laser-cut steel rail, the 20961 provides a rigid, flat sealing surface that dramatically reduces the risk of oil pan leaks compared to stamped OEM pans, which are prone to warping at the rail. The 6-7/8" deep sump increases usable oil volume to 6 quarts, keeping oil temperatures lower and ensuring that the oil pump pickup remains submerged even during the lateral g-forces generated by aggressive road course driving or rally-stage competition.

What distinguishes the 20961 from Moroso's standard Subaru EJ steel pan (20966) is the complete oiling kit included in the box. The 20961 ships with a dedicated windage tray and a heavy-duty braced oil pump pickup - both engineered as a matched system with the pan. The windage tray shields the rotating assembly from oil thrown off the crankshaft, reducing parasitic drag and improving power output, while the integrated anti-slosh baffle actively directs oil toward the pump pickup area during hard braking and acceleration. The -8AN magnetic drain plug captures ferrous metal particles for early wear detection, and the 1/2" NPT sensor bung provides a ready-made port for an aftermarket oil temperature or pressure sender without additional fabrication.

Installation is straightforward on all supported EJ platforms.
