• Fits the 3.4L V6 (5VZ-FE) engine only. Does not fit the base 2.7L I4 (3RZ-FE) 4Runner - those applications use different heater hose routing.
• Compatible with both RWD (2WD) and 4WD variants of the SR5 and Limited trim levels.
• The rear heater was a factory option or standard feature on select trim packages - verify your specific vehicle is equipped with a factory rear heater before ordering.

The Mishimoto MMHOSE-4RUN34-96HHRBK is a direct-fit silicone heater hose kit developed specifically for the 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner third generation (N180) equipped with the 3.4L V6 (5VZ-FE) engine and the factory rear heater system. After 20+ years of service, the original rubber heater hoses on these 4Runners are commonly showing their age - heat cycling, coolant chemistry, and time cause OEM rubber to harden, crack, and eventually fail. Leaking heater hoses can result in coolant loss, loss of cabin heating, and in neglected cases, engine overheating. Mishimoto's solution is a full set of 9 silicone replacement hoses formed to match the OEM heater hose routing geometry exactly - covering both the front heater core connections and the rear heater core circuits - so every hose in the system is replaced in a single kit with no fabrication or modification required.

Owners of 4Runner SR5 or Limited variants that did not come from the factory with a rear heater should use the MMHOSE-4RUN34-96HHBK kit instead, which is calibrated for the front-only heater hose circuit. The kit is also specific to the 3.4L V6 engine - 4Runner models with the 2.7L I4 base engine use different heater hose routing and are not compatible. Installation is rated medium difficulty; while the heater hoses are more accessible than radiator hoses on some vehicles, the rear circuit requires more routing work to complete fully.
