Fitment Notes

• Fits both the first-generation 12-valve 5.9L Cummins (1994-1998, engine code 6BT) and the second-generation 24-valve 5.9L Cummins (1998.5-2002, engine code ISB). Both generations share the same radiator dimensions on the BR/BE chassis.
• Compatible with both automatic (47RE/48RE) and manual (NV4500/NV5600) transmission applications. This radiator does not include an integrated transmission fluid cooler - automatic transmission owners with factory ATF cooler lines routed through the radiator will need to retain or add a separate transmission cooler.
• Radiator style: Crossflow - upper driver-side inlet (1.77 in), lower outlet (1.97 in). Verify hose routing matches before purchase.
• Fan shroud bolt caution: This radiator ships with 4x M6 x 1.0 replacement fan shroud bolts. Do not reinstall the original factory fan shroud bolts - use only the supplied bolts. The Mishimoto MMRAD-RAM-94 is a direct OEM-fit performance aluminum radiator engineered for the 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 equipped with the 5.9L Cummins turbodiesel - covering both the 12-valve 6BT (1994-1998) and the 24-valve ISB (1998.5-2002) generations on the BR/BE chassis. The second-generation Ram with the 5.9L Cummins is one of the most enduringly popular diesel platforms in the aftermarket - robust, torque-rich, and deeply tuneable - but the factory radiator, constructed with plastic end tanks, has a well-earned reputation for cracking and leaking on trucks that are regularly used for towing, hauling, or any application that pushes the cooling system toward its limits. The plastic-to-aluminum tank interface is a structural weak point that degrades with repeated heat cycling; when it fails on a loaded truck in hot weather, the consequences range from a roadside breakdown to engine damage.

Mishimoto's replacement eliminates this failure mode entirely with a full aluminum construction - TIG-welded aluminum end tanks bonded to a 100% brazed three-row core that is 2.44 inches thick and holds 6.78 gallons of coolant. The brazed core construction provides consistent, low-stress tube-to-fin joints across the full 36.42" x 19.21" core face, maximizing heat transfer surface area and coolant thermal mass for sustained heavy-duty operation. The radiator fits both automatic and manual transmission Rams; note that it does not include an integrated ATF cooler, so automatic transmission owners whose factory setup routes transmission fluid through the radiator will need to account for transmission cooling separately.

The kit includes a Mishimoto 1.3 bar high-pressure radiator cap that raises the system's boiling point above the stock cap's rating, providing additional thermal headroom during demanding operation. A magnetic drain plug is included to capture metallic debris from the coolant circuit.
