Product Description

The Mishimoto R1553 is a direct OEM replacement radiator for 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks equipped with the 5.9L Cummins turbocharged inline-six diesel engine. This covers both BR and BE chassis codes across the full model year range. Stock radiators on these platforms routinely develop failures after years of service - the most common being cracked plastic inlet and outlet tanks from repeated thermal cycling and constant clamp pressure, as well as internal clogging from scale and corrosion. When these failures occur, the result is a loss of cooling efficiency that can lead to overheating during towing, hard work, or hot weather operation.

The R1553 restores the cooling system to factory-specification performance using new PA66 nylon plastic end tanks bonded to an aluminum core - the same construction type as the original equipment. Unlike the aging factory unit, both the tanks and core are new, eliminating the accumulated scale, micro-cracks, and flow restrictions that build up over decades. Installation requires no cutting, bending, or modification; the radiator drops directly into the factory mounting location using the original hoses, hardware, and fan shroud. Note that the radiator cap is not included - Mishimoto recommends pairing with their MMRC-13L high-pressure cap. For trucks used in heavy towing, high-altitude work, or modified applications requiring higher heat rejection than OEM levels, Mishimoto's full-aluminum performance radiator for this platform offers increased core thickness and TIG-welded aluminum end tanks.
