The GR Corolla is one of the most performance-focused hot hatches available - pushing 100 horsepower per cylinder from the factory - but that extreme specific output generates significant heat in the charge air system during sustained hard driving. The factory intercooler is compact and effective for stock output during single pulls, but under repeated acceleration runs, canyon carving, or track conditions, the stock unit builds heat soak that progressively reduces charge density and engine output.
