Product Description

The Mishimoto MMAI-RS-16WBK Performance Air Intake is a complete, direct-fit intake system engineered specifically for the 2016-2018 Ford Focus RS. Unlike bolt-on filter upgrades that simply swap the filter element, this is a full system replacement - every core OEM component is removed and replaced with a purpose-built intake pipe and airbox designed to maximize airflow to the 2.3L EcoBoost turbocharger. The 3-inch mandrel-bent aluminum pipe, finished in a wrinkle black powder coat, routes directly from the airbox to the turbo inlet with smooth internal geometry to minimize turbulence and pressure drop under hard acceleration. A CNC-machined MAP sensor section is integrated into the pipe to ensure accurate, consistent sensor readings, allowing the system to work safely and effectively on the stock tune.

The airbox design is modeled after the OEM layout but engineered for improved performance. Its open-top design exposes the high-flow oiled filter to maximum airflow, while the box seals against the underside of the hood to create a fully enclosed cold-air environment. The factory front air inlet ducts are retained and connect to the airbox via weather-stripped ports, continuously directing cold air from the front of the vehicle to the filter and blocking radiant engine heat from entering the induction system.
