The Mishimoto MMIG-VW-1504 is an OEM-replacement ignition coil 4-pack engineered for the 2015-2021 Volkswagen GTI equipped with the 2.0L EA888 Gen 3 turbocharged inline-four. The ignition coils on the MK7 and MK7.5 GTI are a known maintenance item - over time and mileage, the factory coils weaken and can cause misfires, rough idle, poor throttle response, and reduced fuel economy. Under boosted or modified conditions, weak coils can also result in spark blow-out, where the coil fails to maintain a consistent spark under elevated cylinder pressure, causing power loss and hesitation. A full coil replacement is the foundation of any Stage 0 maintenance refresh before moving to power-adding modifications.
