Vehicle Fitment

  • 2006-2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD (6.6L Duramax LBZ / LMM, 4WD)
  • 2006-2010 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD (6.6L Duramax LBZ / LMM, 4WD)
  • 2006-2010 GMC Sierra 2500 HD (6.6L Duramax LBZ / LMM, 4WD)
  • 2006-2010 GMC Sierra 3500 HD (6.6L Duramax LBZ / LMM, 4WD)

Fitment Notes

  • Critical lower hose compatibility - 2006 and 2007 model years: This radiator was engineered to mate with the updated Chevrolet/GMC lower radiator hose that uses a larger O-ring. Trucks built for the 2006 and 2007 model years use an older lower hose connection that is not compatible with this radiator's outlet without modification. 2006-2007 owners must purchase either the Mishimoto Duramax hose kit or the 2008-2010 OEM lower hose (GM part number 25841843) before installation. 2008-2010 owners are not affected by this requirement.
  • This radiator covers both the LBZ (2006-2007) and LMM (2007.5-2010) Duramax engine generations. Both share the same radiator core support dimensions and hose routing on the GMT900 chassis.
  • Radiator style: Crossflow - upper driver-side inlet. Includes a CNC-machined quick-disconnect outlet for stock hose connection compatibility.
  • Includes integrated transmission fluid cooler - compatible with the Allison 1000 automatic transmission fitted to all GMT900 2500 HD and 3500 HD Duramax trucks.
  • Installation difficulty rated Hard. An official Mishimoto installation guide (PDF) is available for download.
  • Drain plug thread size: M12 x 1.5.

Features

  • Direct OEM-fit performance aluminum radiator engineered specifically for the 2006-2010 GMT900 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra with the 6.6L Duramax LBZ and LMM - retains all factory mounting points with no chassis modification, cutting, or drilling required.
  • Aircraft-grade aluminum construction throughout - TIG-welded polished aluminum end tanks bonded to a 100% brazed aluminum two-row core. Aluminum provides superior heat dissipation, corrosion resistance, and weight reduction versus the OEM plastic-tank/aluminum-core construction.
  • Two-row, 2.21-inch thick brazed aluminum core provides increased coolant volume and heat transfer surface area, delivering efficient fluid temperature reduction under sustained towing, hauling, high-load driving, and warm ambient conditions - applications where the OEM radiator is commonly pushed to its limits on a high-output turbodiesel platform.
  • CNC-machined quick-disconnect outlet accommodates the stock lower hose connection for the 2008-2010 hose specification (see fitment notes for 2006-2007 requirements).
  • Integrated transmission fluid cooler accepts the factory Allison 1000 transmission cooling lines, maintaining proper ATF temperature regulation as part of the OEM cooling circuit.
  • Magnetic drain plug captures ferrous metallic debris and particles that accumulate in the cooling system over time, preventing them from circulating through the radiator core and water pump and causing premature wear.
  • Large 6.09-gallon coolant capacity provides substantial thermal mass for sustained heat absorption during prolonged hard work cycles - particularly relevant for trucks used in heavy towing, grade climbing, or extended idling under load.
  • Backed by the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.

Product Description

The Mishimoto MMRAD-DMAX-06 is a direct OEM-fit performance aluminum radiator engineered for the 2006-2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD equipped with the 6.6L Duramax LBZ or LMM turbocharged diesel V8. The GMT900 Duramax is a proven workhorse platform, but its factory radiator - constructed with plastic end tanks - is a persistent weak point on these trucks. Plastic end tanks become brittle from heat cycling over time, develop leaks at the tank-to-core seam, and cannot match the heat dissipation efficiency of an all-aluminum unit. On a truck used for towing heavy loads, grade climbing, or sustained high-output operation, the consequences of reduced cooling capacity are compounded by the thermal demands the Duramax places on the cooling system under those conditions.

Mishimoto's replacement radiator substitutes the entire assembly with aircraft-grade aluminum construction - TIG-welded polished end tanks bonded to a 100% brazed two-row aluminum core that is 2.21 inches thick and holds 6.09 gallons of coolant. The brazed core construction provides minimal joint distortion, consistent tube-to-fin bonds, and reliable performance over the full thermal cycling range of a diesel work truck. The radiator includes an integrated transmission fluid cooler for the Allison 1000 automatic transmission, accepting the factory ATF lines without modification. A CNC-machined quick-disconnect outlet is engineered to mate with the updated lower radiator hose spec from GM - a critical point for 2006 and 2007 model year owners, who must upgrade to the 2008-2010 lower hose (GM part #25841843 or the Mishimoto hose kit) before installation, as the older lower hose connection is not compatible with this radiator's outlet geometry.

A magnetic drain plug is included to capture ferrous metallic particles that accumulate in the cooling circuit, protecting the water pump impeller and radiator core from abrasive debris. The radiator retains all factory mounting points on the GMT900 chassis - no cutting, drilling, or modification to the truck is required, though installation is rated Hard given the size and weight of the unit and the access required on these trucks. An official Mishimoto PDF installation guide is available. Pairs naturally with the Mishimoto Duramax silicone coolant hose kit for a comprehensive cooling system overhaul. Covered by the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.
