The Mishimoto MMOC-GTO-04T Thermostatic Oil Cooler Kit is engineered specifically for the 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO with the V-Body chassis and LS-series V8 engine. It is compatible with the 2004 LS1 5.7L V8 and the 2005-2006 LS2 6.0L V8. The system uses a large 25-row stacked-plate cooler positioned in the upper kidney-grille area, where it receives direct airflow for effective engine-oil heat rejection.

Instead of a conventional thermostatic sandwich plate, this kit uses a Mishimoto inline oil thermostat because of the limited space around the GTO oil-filter housing. The thermostat is designed to maintain approximately 185°F oil temperature, while Mishimoto testing recorded a 65°F oil-temperature reduction with oil continuously flowing through the cooler without thermostat regulation. The application-specific LS1/LS2 adapter connects at the oil-filter housing and feeds the cooler through preassembled stainless-steel braided -10AN lines.

The complete system includes application-specific mounting hardware, the 25-row cooler, inline thermostat and bracket, LS1/LS2 oil cooler adapter, multiple preassembled braided hoses, and the required AN fittings. Installation requires removal of the engine oil filter, and Mishimoto recommends replacing the engine oil and filter during installation.
