Product Description

The McLeod 6405507M is an RXT Street Twin disc clutch kit with a billet steel flywheel for GM LS-series engines with a 6-bolt crankshaft flange. Rated to 1,000 HP, this twin disc clutch is the step up from the RST (800 HP) for enthusiasts who need additional holding capacity for street and drag strip use. The ceramic disc facing provides increased holding power compared to the organic-lined RST, with slightly more aggressive engagement while maintaining a soft, lighter-than-stock pedal feel suitable for daily driving. The twin disc design distributes clamping force across two friction surfaces, allowing significantly more power capacity without requiring excessive pedal pressure. The included billet steel flywheel features a 168-tooth ring gear with 0 balance for internally balanced LS applications. A CNC-machined and anodized adapter ring ensures precise alignment, and the Blanchard ground floater plate with multiple straps reduces noise for streetability. Low rotating mass enables quicker engine response and faster revs. This kit fits a wide range of GM LS-powered vehicles including the Corvette C5/C6, Camaro, Firebird/Trans Am, Pontiac GTO, Pontiac G8, and Cadillac CTS-V. The 2004-2007 CTS-V requires a separately purchased slave cylinder spacer (McLeod 1377-950). This clutch is designed for dual-purpose street and strip use -- drive to the track, make passes, and drive home. For street-only applications at 800 HP, the organic-lined RST (6405507) offers smoother engagement. For higher power levels up to 1,200 HP, the RXT 1200 (6405507HD) is available. An aluminum flywheel version is also available as McLeod 6305507M. Break-in procedure requires 500-750 miles of stop-and-go city driving with 1,200-1,500 clutch actuations before track use.
