Product Description

The MAHLE 2243851 is a set of 8 standard bore OE-quality pistons for the 2008-2010 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty equipped with the 6.4L Power Stroke V8 diesel. These pistons use the Navistar MaxxForce 7 design -- an OE redesign of the stock 6.4L piston -- and are commonly used in 6.4L Power Stroke rebuilds to address the well-documented piston cracking issue that plagues the original equipment. The stock 6.4L pistons are prone to cracking at the bowl and center hump under high combustion pressure; the MaxxForce 7 bowl geometry and strengthened center hump are specifically redesigned to eliminate this failure mode while retaining the cast steel insert for long-term durability.

This is a pistons-only set -- rings are not included and must be ordered separately. Standard bore at 3.870" / 98.30mm -- block must be inspected by a machine shop to confirm bore size is at standard before ordering. Oversize variants are available in 0.25mm, 0.50mm, and 0.75mm increments in the with-rings configuration (2243851WR series). MAHLE is an OE supplier for this application.
