Fitment Notes

• Standard Grade - designed for pre-OBDII vehicles (pre-1996 model year); NOT suitable for 1996 and newer OBDII vehicles - use an OEM Grade converter for OBDII applications
• Fits 3.0 in. exhaust piping only - the 94109 is the compact 3.0 in. version (9 in. body / 13 in. overall); the larger 94009 (12 in. body / 16 in. overall) uses the same inlet/outlet diameter for applications requiring more converter volume
• Universal design - cutting, welding, and tube-bending are required for installation; this converter does not bolt directly onto any factory exhaust system

The MagnaFlow 94109 is a Standard Grade Federal/EPA compliant universal catalytic converter engineered for pre-OBDII vehicles - those manufactured before the 1996 model year - running 3.0-inch exhaust piping. It is the compact counterpart to the larger 94009, sharing the same 3.0-inch inlet/outlet diameter but with a significantly shorter body (9 in. L vs. 12 in. L) and overall length (13 in. vs. 16 in.), making it the correct choice when underbody clearance or exhaust routing constraints prevent the use of the longer 94009. Like all Standard Grade converters, the 94109 is rated specifically for pre-1996 Federal/EPA registered vehicles and is not appropriate for 1996 and newer OBDII-equipped applications.

The oval clamshell body houses a ceramic honeycomb substrate designed for maximum surface area and catalytic conversion efficiency. The body is ribbed to resist heat-induced distortion and substrate movement, and features a continuous seam weld positioned close to the body shell to create a gas-tight bond that resists thermal expansion. The 1/2-inch lap joint at the inlet and outlet cones keeps the pipe necks outside the converter body to preserve full, unrestricted flow through the 3.0-inch bore. An integrated OEM-style ribbed heat shield is factory-attached to protect nearby components. The 94109 is constructed from 16 gauge 409 stainless steel tubing with 308 stainless steel MIG welds throughout for maximum corrosion resistance and structural integrity.

Because this is a universal converter, professional installation requiring welding, cutting, and tube-bending is necessary - it is not designed for DIY bolt-on installation. There are no O2 sensor ports included; bungs must be welded on separately if required for your application. Gaskets, clamps, and hangers are not included.
