Product Description

The KYB SM5542 is a direct OE-replacement front strut mount with insulator designed for the 2003-2009 Nissan 350Z and 2003-2007 Infiniti G35, covering all body styles, trim levels, and drivetrain configurations built on Nissan's FM (V35) platform. Manufactured by KYB - one of the world's largest OEM suppliers of suspension components - this mount is built to the same exacting standards as the original factory hardware. When the OEM mount's rubber insulator hardens, cracks, or deteriorates, it transmits road vibration, steering noise, and suspension harshness directly into the cabin. The SM5542 restores the isolation and structural integrity the chassis was designed around, eliminating clunking, vibration, and alignment drift caused by worn mounts.

The SM5542 features a high-strength steel body, an integrated high-durability rubber insulator, and an internal bearing plate that functions as the steering pivot for the front suspension. This bearing is critical to smooth, precise steering response - a worn or seized bearing is a common cause of tight, grinding, or notchy steering feel on these platforms. This mount fits the entire production run of the Nissan 350Z (Z33) from 2003 through 2009, as well as the Infiniti G35 Coupe and Sedan in both RWD and AWD (G35x) configurations from 2003 through 2007. Both the VQ35DE and VQ35HR variants of the 3.5L V6 are covered. The SM5542 is sold individually - two units are required to replace both front positions, which is strongly recommended as a matched pair to ensure balanced steering, noise, and ride quality. The strut boot and bump stop are not included and are available separately.
