Product Description

The KYB KG5507 is a high-pressure Gas-a-Just monotube rear shock absorber covering an exceptional breadth of classic GM rear-wheel drive platforms - from the full-size B-body Chevrolet Impala, Bel Air, Caprice, and Biscayne to muscle cars like the GTO, Chevelle, and 442, plus full-size Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac sedans spanning 1958 through 1996. The Gas-a-Just monotube design delivers up to 25% more damping performance than the original factory twin-tube shocks these vehicles were equipped with, and can also improve steering responsiveness by up to 30%. Valving is specifically calibrated for classic GM body-on-frame suspension geometry, and the floating-piston nitrogen gas area automatically adjusts to heavier loads or aggressive driving demands.

The two-chamber monotube design permanently separates oil and gas, eliminating the aeration and performance fade that affect twin-tube designs under sustained use. Replaces Gabriel 69724 and Monroe 550013. Important exceptions: not compatible with Cadillac models equipped with Electronic Suspension, 1958-1960 Chevrolet models with factory Air Suspension, or 1977-1996 wagon body styles.
