Product Description

The KYB KG5440 is a high-pressure Gas-a-Just monotube front shock absorber covering a broad range of Dodge and Ford truck and SUV platforms from 1980 through 2004. Applications include the Dodge Dakota and Durango, Ford Bronco, Bronco II, F-100, F-150, F-250, F-350, and Ranger - across both 2WD and 4WD configurations. The Gas-a-Just monotube design delivers up to 25% more damping force than the stock twin-tube shocks these trucks were originally equipped with, making it both a correct OE monotube replacement and a genuine performance upgrade over factory twin-tube units. Valving is specifically engineered for domestic truck geometry and the demands of towing, hauling, and running heavier aftermarket wheels and tires.

The two-chamber monotube design keeps oil and gas permanently separated by a floating piston, eliminating the fade and aeration that affect twin-tube designs under sustained or heavy use. The triple chrome-plated piston rod minimizes friction and extends seal service life, and the included dust boot protects the shaft in off-road and work-site conditions.
