Vehicle Fitment

  • 1993-1998 Toyota Supra Non-Turbo (JZA80, 2JZ-GE 3.0L I6, RWD, MT)
  • 1993-1998 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo (JZA80, 2JZ-GTE 3.0L Twin Turbo I6, RWD, MT)

Fitment Notes

  • Manual Transmission (MT) primary application. Automatic transmission vehicles require a separate external transmission cooler.
  • The OEM factory radiator cap is NOT compatible with this radiator. A Koyorad SK-C13 deep plunger-style cap or equivalent must be used (sold separately).
  • The OEM fan switch (coolant temperature sensor) must be transferred from the stock radiator to this unit - thread specification is M16x1.5. The sensor port is pre-tapped and ready to accept the OEM sensor with no modification.
  • Fits both the Naturally Aspirated (2JZ-GE) and Twin Turbo (2JZ-GTE) JZA80 Supra variants.
  • Retains all OEM fan shroud mounts, coolant hose positions, and factory mounting pin locations - no drilling, cutting, or chassis modification required.

Features

  • 53mm R-Core Series - Koyorad's thickest single-pass all-aluminum core, delivering up to 35% greater cooling performance over the OEM radiator and 20-30% more than standard aluminum alternatives.
  • Fully polished mirror-finish aluminum end tanks for a show-quality appearance that complements high-build engine bay presentations.
  • Direct bolt-in fit with OE-specific mounting locations for all fan shrouds, inlet and outlet hoses, and top and bottom mounting pins - no modifications required.
  • Nocolok furnace brazing bonds all tubes, fins, headers, and brackets for long-term structural integrity under sustained high-temperature cycling, track use, and high-boost operation.
  • Hand-crafted Heliarc (TIG) welds on every radiator produce the strongest possible aluminum-to-aluminum bond at all end tank and core connections.
  • Precision-machined billet aluminum filler neck provides a superior pressure seal and long-term durability versus the OEM plastic filler neck.
  • Integrated 1/8" NPT female accessory fitting (supplied with threaded plug) accepts coolant temperature sensors from most aftermarket temperature gauge brands.
  • Pre-tapped M16x1.5 fan switch port accepts the OEM coolant temperature sensor directly from the factory radiator with no adapters or modification.
  • Manufactured in Koyorad's privately owned, ISO 9001-certified Japanese facilities with in-house quality oversight at every stage of production.

Product Description

The Koyo R1856 is a 53mm full-aluminum R-Core Series racing radiator engineered specifically for the 1993-1998 Toyota Supra JZA80 (MK IV / A80) in both Naturally Aspirated (2JZ-GE) and Twin Turbo (2JZ-GTE) configurations with manual transmission. As part of Koyorad's R-Core lineup - the thickest single-pass core in the Koyorad Racing range - the R1856 delivers up to 35% greater thermal performance over the OEM radiator, making it one of the most popular and proven cooling upgrades on the JZA80 platform. The 53mm core provides dramatically increased coolant volume and surface area within the same factory mounting envelope, offering meaningful thermal headroom for both stock 2JZ-GE ownership and the demanding cooling requirements of boosted or high-horsepower 2JZ-GTE builds.

Installation is bolt-in with no chassis modification required. The R1856 retains all OEM fan shroud mounts, stock coolant hose positions, and factory upper and lower mounting pin locations. Two key items must be addressed at installation: first, the OEM fan switch (coolant temperature sensor) must be transferred from the factory radiator to the R1856 - the unit includes a pre-tapped M16x1.5 sensor port that accepts the stock sensor directly with no adapters. Second, the OEM factory radiator cap is not compatible with the billet aluminum filler neck's deep plunger interface - a Koyorad SK-C13 cap or equivalent deep plunger-style cap must be sourced separately prior to installation. The 1/8" NPT accessory port, supplied with a threaded plug, allows optional installation of a coolant temperature sensor for aftermarket gauge setups.

Every R1856 is built at Koyorad's privately owned, ISO 9001-certified facilities in Japan, where each radiator is hand-assembled, Nocolok furnace brazed, and individually Heliarc (TIG) welded to produce mirror-polished end tanks that are as visually striking as they are structurally robust. The R1856 is a manual transmission primary application - automatic transmission vehicles can use this radiator only if an external transmission cooler is also installed, as the OEM automatic fluid cooling circuit is not replicated in this all-aluminum unit. For JZA80 Supra owners seeking a reliable, direct-fit cooling upgrade that is equally at home on a show build or a 1,000+ horsepower track car, the Koyo R1856 remains the benchmark in the segment.
