Fitment Notes

• Front strut cartridge (insert) - position is Front Left and Front Right. Left and right units are identical (non-handed). Sold individually (per cartridge); two units are required for a complete front axle installation.
• This is a strut INSERT/CARTRIDGE, not a complete strut assembly. The 86-2277Sport is designed to be installed inside the existing OEM front strut housing of the E30 Convertible. The original strut housing is retained on the vehicle; only the internal damper cartridge is replaced. This requires partial strut disassembly using a spring compressor.
• Fits the E30 Convertible body style (E147) only - the 318i and 325i Convertible. The E30 Sedan and Coupe use different front strut housing geometry and require separate KONI strut insert part numbers.
• Fits the E30 Convertible with M Technik (sport suspension) package - confirmed fitment regardless of M Technik specification.
• This shock uses internal (compress-to-adjust) rebound adjustment - the cartridge must be removed from the vehicle and compressed to change the rebound setting. Adjustment is recommended at the time of installation to set the desired damping level before reinstalling.
• Compatible with OEM spring rates and performance lowering springs up to approximately 35-40 mm of drop.

The 86 Series is a strut INSERT - it is installed inside the existing OEM front strut housing, replacing only the internal damper cartridge while retaining the original strut housing, top mount, and associated hardware. This approach preserves the OEM strut geometry while delivering KONI Sport performance at a lower total cost than a complete strut assembly replacement.
