Fitment Notes

• Front shock absorber - position is Front Left and Front Right. Left and right units are identical (non-handed). Sold individually (per shock); two units are required for a complete front axle replacement.
• Fits the third-generation Mitsubishi Montero (V60/V80 platform, also known globally as the Pajero III/IV) sold in the North American market from the 2001 through 2006 model years. This is the full-size, body-on-frame Montero - not the smaller Montero Sport.
• Does not fit the Mitsubishi Montero Sport - the Sport is a separate, smaller vehicle based on a different platform with different front suspension geometry. Verify your specific model before ordering.
• Fits 4WD variants only. The third-generation North American Montero was exclusively offered in 4WD configuration; there were no 2WD variants sold in the US market for this generation.
• This shock requires a front shock bump stop/damper for proper front strut assembly. The bump stop is not included - reuse the original if serviceable, or source new OEM bump stops separately before installation.
• The rebound damping is adjusted off-vehicle before installation. Default setting (out of box) is minimum firmness; the adjustment range extends to a setting 100% firmer than the default.
• The companion rear shock for this application is KONI 82-2506, sold separately.

Product Description

The KONI 82-2505 is a red-painted, adjustable front shock absorber from KONI's Heavy Track line, engineered for the 2001-2006 Mitsubishi Montero (V60/V80 platform, also sold globally as the Pajero III and IV) in the North American market. It fits all third-generation Montero trims in 4WD configuration - the full-size, body-on-frame Montero only, not the smaller Montero Sport, which is a separate vehicle on a different platform. The Heavy Track is KONI's purpose-built product for 4WD SUV applications: a twin-tube, hydraulic shock absorber with a larger 50mm OD tube for increased oil volume and cooler operating temperatures, custom-valved to deliver improved road holding, body stability, and ride composure over the worn OEM dampers that the high-mileage third-generation Montero is frequently subject to.

Rebound adjustment is performed off-vehicle before installation: the shock comes pre-set at minimum firmness out of the box, and can be adjusted to a setting up to 100% firmer to match the driver's typical load level, terrain, and preference. This allows the Montero's front damping to be meaningfully tailored - softer for comfortable on-road use with no load, firmer for towing, highway stability, or light off-road work. A front shock bump stop is required for proper strut assembly but is not included - the original OEM bump stop should be reused if in serviceable condition, or a new OEM bump stop should be sourced before installation.

The companion rear shock for this application is KONI 82-2506, sold separately.
