Vehicle Fitment

  • 2017-2024 Can-Am Maverick X3 - 72" Track Width variants (X RS, X DS 72", X RS Turbo R, and all other 72" wide-body configurations)

Fitment Notes

  • This part fits all 2017-and-newer Can-Am Maverick X3 models equipped with the 72" rear track width - including the X RS (RaceSpec), X DS 72" wide-body, X RS Turbo R, and other 72"-wide variants as they are released. King Shocks' own product page applies this shock to current-production Maverick X3 models, confirming it covers the full production run from 2017 to present.
  • Does not fit the 64" track width variants of the Maverick X3 - the standard X3 and X DS with 64" track width require the separate King Shocks 33700-130A. Verify your vehicle's track width before ordering.
  • Position: Rear shock. This listing is for a single (1) shock absorber - not a pair. Two units are required for a complete rear replacement.
  • This is a made-to-order / special order product. Lead time is approximately 6-8 weeks from date of order. No cancellations or returns are accepted once the order is placed.
  • Designed for bolt-on installation on stock suspension geometry. Custom length options are available directly from King Shocks for long travel suspension builds.

Features

  • King's 3.0 Internal Bypass (IBP) design uses dual pistons within the 3.0" outer body - a main piston for standard damping and a bypass piston for position-sensitive damping - delivering precisely tunable velocity-sensitive and position-sensitive damping simultaneously in a single coilover body, without requiring separate bypass tubes or external bypass circuitry
  • The IBP's dual piston architecture creates a hydraulic bump stop zone in the final portion of shock travel - providing a progressive, fluid-based resistance that cushions against full-compression impacts far more effectively than mechanical bump stops, and completely eliminating the harsh metal-on-metal "topping out" and "bottoming out" that damages UTVs and fatigues drivers on aggressive terrain
  • Position-sensitive damping means the IBP shock provides softer, more compliant response during normal slow-speed suspension movement and automatically transitions to firmer, higher-damping behavior as the suspension approaches its limits - delivering both ride quality and bottoming resistance from a single shock without requiring the driver to manually select between them
  • 20-position Wide Range Compression Adjuster knob provides precisely controllable compression damping adjustment from super soft to super firm - the billet aluminum knob has individual detents at each of the 20 click positions for tactile feedback even while wearing gloves, and can be retrofitted to existing King Shocks
  • 3.0" body with 2.5" inner zinc-plated cylinder maximizes internal fluid volume and heat capacity - maintaining consistent damping performance through the extended high-speed runs, repeated high-amplitude impacts, and sustained full-throttle use that characterize Maverick X3 performance driving
  • Finned remote reservoir in hard anodized 6063 aluminum alloy provides additional fluid volume and dramatically increased heat dissipation - the external fins increase the reservoir's surface area for passive cooling, further extending fade-free performance under extreme thermal loads
  • Quad-sealed fluid transfer tube between the shock body and reservoir ensures a leak-free, durable connection that resists the contamination and mechanical stress of off-road use
  • 3" ID dual-rate coilover spring is tuned specifically for the 72" Maverick X3's weight, suspension geometry, and intended performance use - providing the optimal balance between initial ride compliance and progression as suspension loads increase
  • 3/4" hard chrome, micro-polished (6 RA finish) shaft with 100,000 PSI minimum tensile strength provides both surface smoothness for long seal life and structural integrity under the bending and torsional loads generated by aggressive UTV use
  • Machined proprietary truncated thread design enables trouble-free ride height adjustment without thread damage or binding
  • All valving is tunable with simple hand tools - and the shocks are fully rebuildable and serviceable by King Shocks technicians
  • Beautifully anodized aircraft-quality billet aluminum construction throughout
  • Hand built in the USA at King Shocks' facility in Garden Grove, California

Product Description

The King Shocks 33700-131A is a 3.0" Internal Bypass (IBP) rear coilover with finned remote reservoir and 20-position compression adjuster for the 2017-and-newer Can-Am Maverick X3 equipped with the 72" wide-body rear track width - covering the X RS, X DS 72", X RS Turbo R, and all other 72"-wide variants. Sold as a single shock; two are required for a complete rear replacement. This is a special-order product with a 6-8 week build lead time - no cancellations or returns are accepted after ordering.

The IBP (Internal Bypass) design is King's most technically sophisticated single-body coilover architecture, and it elevates the 33700-131A well above a standard monotube coilover. The dual piston configuration inside the 3.0" body provides simultaneous velocity-sensitive and position-sensitive damping - the main piston handles standard compression and rebound while the bypass piston provides position-sensitive control that automatically modulates damping based on where the shock is in its travel. The result is a shock that feels soft and compliant during normal suspension movement, firms up progressively as suspension loads increase, and transitions into an effective hydraulic bump stop in the final travel range - all without any driver input and in any of the 20 compression adjuster settings. This makes the IBP's bump stop behavior far more progressive and controllable than a solid mechanical bump stop, and eliminates the abrupt chassis shock that causes component failures and driver fatigue on aggressive terrain.

The 20-position Wide Range Compression Adjuster allows precise tuning from super-soft desert-style compliance to super-firm rock-crawling resistance with a single billet knob - each of the 20 detented positions is clearly distinguishable by feel while wearing gloves, and the adjuster can be retrofitted to existing King Shocks. The finned external reservoir provides both additional fluid volume and passive cooling through its fin array for sustained fade-free performance in extended high-speed runs. Hand built at King Shocks' Garden Grove, California facility; fully rebuildable and tunable.
