Fitment Notes

  • Fits the Nissan VQ35HR (3.5L) and VQ37VHR (3.7L) naturally aspirated V6 engines only. Does not fit the VQ35DE, VQ35DE Rev-Up, or any earlier non-HR 3.5L variant.
  • Does not fit the VR30DDTT turbocharged 3.0L twin-turbo V6 found in 2016-2024 Infiniti Q50 and Q60 models. Those applications require a different bearing set.
  • The Infiniti Q50 VQ37VHR fitment applies to 2014-2015 model years only. The 3.7L naturally aspirated engine was discontinued in the Q50 after 2015.
  • This is a standard (STD) size bearing set. For use only on crankshafts with unground, factory-dimension rod journals. If the crankshaft has been machined undersize, select the appropriate 0.25mm or 0.50mm undersize variant.

Features

  • CP Series construction uses King's classic tri-metal copper-based material (equivalent to SAE-794), engineered for medium-load naturally aspirated engine applications as a premium OE-replacement solution.
  • Tri-metal architecture consists of a steel backing, a copper-lead intermediate bonding layer, and a Babbitt overlay - the same proven layered construction used in OE-quality engine rebuilding for decades.
  • Standard (STD) size fitment is designed for installation on unmachined, factory-dimension crankshaft rod journals, making it the correct choice for engines with no prior crank grinding.
  • King's precision manufacturing holds tighter wall thickness tolerances shell-to-shell than the industry standard, reducing variability and the need to selectively fit shells during assembly.
  • RadiaLock geometry delivers an optimized crush height for each bearing shell, ensuring consistent retention and correct press fit within the connecting rod bore after torquing to spec.
  • 90-degree oil groove shape preserves full oil flow at the journal interface while expanding the effective hydrodynamic load-bearing surface area for stronger oil film support.
  • Engineered to meet or exceed OE oil clearance specifications on VQ35HR and VQ37VHR engines, providing a reliable foundation for both stock rebuilds and mild performance applications.
  • Every shell passes rigorous multi-checkpoint quality control inspection during production, ensuring dimensional accuracy and consistent metallurgical integrity across all 12 shells in the set.

Product Description

The King CR6902CP is a standard-size CP Series tri-metal connecting rod bearing set built for Nissan's VQ35HR and VQ37VHR naturally aspirated V6 engines. The CP designation identifies King's classic OE-replacement-grade bearing construction, utilizing a traditional tri-metal copper-based alloy equivalent to SAE-794 - a time-proven layered material architecture that delivers dependable performance across medium-load engine applications. This standard-size set is the correct choice when the crankshaft has not been machined and rod journal diameters remain at factory specification. It is appropriate for stock engine rebuilds, preventive maintenance refreshes, and performance assembly on any VQ35HR or VQ37VHR platform spanning the Nissan 350Z and 370Z to the full range of Infiniti G35, G37, Q, M, EX, FX, QX50, and QX70 models equipped with these engines.

King's manufacturing precision sets the CR6902CP apart from standard OE-equivalent alternatives. Wall thickness is held to tighter shell-to-shell tolerances than the industry norm, which means builders achieve consistent oil clearance readings across all six connecting rod journals without needing to selectively match shells. RadiaLock geometry ensures each shell achieves the correct crush height when the connecting rod cap is torqued down, preventing shell movement or fretting in the bore during engine operation. The 90-degree oil groove design maintains uninterrupted oil delivery to the journal interface while broadening the hydrodynamic load surface - a combination that supports stable oil film pressure across the full RPM range that the high-revving VQ35HR and VQ37VHR engines are known to operate in.

This complete set contains 12 shells - six upper and six lower halves - covering all connecting rod journals in one V6 engine. Prior to installation, crankshaft journal diameter should be confirmed with a precision micrometer to verify that standard-size bearings are appropriate. Target oil clearance should then be verified with Plastigage or a dial bore gauge after fitting shells to ensure proper hydrodynamic film thickness. The CR6902CP is well-suited to naturally aspirated stock and mild performance rebuilds. For forced induction, high-boost, or race applications on VQ35HR/VQ37VHR engines, King's XPC-coated pMaxKote variant (CR6902XPC) is the recommended upgrade.
