Fitment Notes

  • Fits the Nissan VQ35HR (3.5L) and VQ37VHR (3.7L) naturally aspirated V6 engines only. Does not fit the VQ35DE, VQ35DE Rev-Up, or earlier non-HR 3.5L variants.
  • Does not fit the VR30DDTT turbocharged 3.0L V6 found in later Q50/Q60 models (2016-2024). The VR30DTT application uses a different bearing set (CR6902XPC).
  • This is a 0.25mm undersize bearing set - shells are thicker than standard, designed for use with crankshafts that have been ground 0.25mm undersize. Confirm journal dimensions before ordering.
  • Not for use on unmachined, standard-size crankshafts. Proper journal sizing must be verified prior to installation.
  • The Infiniti Q50 VQ37VHR fitment applies to the 2014-2015 model years only. The 3.7L was replaced by the VR30DDTT twin-turbo for 2016 and later Q50 models.

Features

  • CP Series construction uses King's classic tri-metal copper-based material (equivalent to SAE-794), engineered for medium-load naturally aspirated engine applications as a high-quality OE replacement solution.
  • Tri-metal architecture consists of a steel backing, a copper-lead intermediate bonding layer, and a Babbitt overlay - the same proven layered construction used in OE-quality engine rebuilding for decades.
  • Engineered to meet or exceed factory clearance specifications on VQ35HR and VQ37VHR engines, providing a reliable and consistent foundation for both stock rebuilds and mild performance applications.
  • 0.25mm undersize specification allows builders to restore proper oil clearance after crankshaft grinding, maintaining the engineered hydrodynamic film critical to connecting rod journal protection.
  • King's precision manufacturing process holds tighter wall thickness tolerances shell-to-shell than the industry standard, reducing the need to "fish" for matching shells during assembly.
  • RadiaLock geometry delivers an optimized crush height value for each bearing shell, ensuring correct retention and consistent press fit within the connecting rod bore after torquing.
  • 90-degree oil groove shape preserves full oil flow into the bearing while expanding the effective load-bearing surface area, improving film strength at the journal interface.
  • Every bearing shell passes rigorous multi-checkpoint quality control inspection during production, ensuring dimensional accuracy and consistent metallurgical integrity across all 12 shells in the set.

Product Description

The King CR6902CP0.25 is a CP Series tri-metal connecting rod bearing set designed for Nissan's VQ35HR and VQ37VHR naturally aspirated V6 engines. The CP designation identifies King's classic OE-replacement-grade construction, built from a traditional tri-metal copper-based material equivalent to SAE-794 - a proven layered alloy architecture that has been the benchmark for quality engine rebuilding across medium-load applications. This set is an ideal choice for builders performing a standard engine refresh, a crank regrind rebuild, or a precision stock-specification rebuild on any VQ35HR or VQ37VHR platform, from the Nissan 350Z and 370Z to the full range of Infiniti G, Q, M, and QX models that carried these engines. The 0.25mm undersize specification means these shells are dimensionally thicker than standard, and are engineered specifically for installation on crankshafts that have been precision-ground 0.25mm below the factory journal diameter - a common machining step used to restore proper clearance and surface finish on worn cranks.

King's manufacturing precision distinguishes this set from generic OE-equivalent alternatives. Shell-to-shell wall thickness variation is held to tighter tolerances than the industry standard, which means builders spend less time selectively fitting shells to achieve target clearances and more time confidently assembling with consistent parts. RadiaLock geometry ensures that each shell achieves the correct crush height when torqued into the connecting rod bore, preventing any movement or fretting of the bearing during engine operation. The 90-degree oil groove design maintains uninterrupted oil flow at the journal interface while widening the hydrodynamic load surface - two qualities that matter most in high-RPM, high-temperature operating conditions typical of the VQ37VHR in spirited driving or track use.

This complete set includes 12 shells - six upper and six lower halves - covering all connecting rod journals in one V6 engine. It is the correct choice when the crankshaft has been confirmed at 0.25mm undersize through precision measurement. Builders should always verify journal diameter with a micrometer before selecting bearing size, and confirm correct oil clearance with Plastigage or a dial bore gauge after fitting. The CR6902CP0.25 is suited to both daily-driven restorations and performance rebuilds where forced induction or aggressive power adders are not present; for boosted or race applications on VQ35HR/VQ37VHR, the XPC-coated variant is recommended instead.
