The XA Series Tri-Metal+ material combines a reinforced copper-based intermediate layer with an enhanced high-tin Babbit overlay, delivering higher load capacity than standard tri-metal designs and making it well-suited for the OM642's moderate-to-high cylinder pressures across its wide power output range. King's manufacturing process applies multiple proprietary technologies to every bearing in this set. Bull's Eye Tolerance™ uses computerized wall thickness monitoring to hold dimensional accuracy tighter than standard industry tolerances, eliminating the variation in crush fit that leads to premature bearing fatigue. RadiaLock™ optimizes the crush height geometry so the shells lock securely in the housing bore without distortion. U-Groove™ improves oil distribution across the bearing surface, and ElliptiX™ provides a subtle elliptical bore profile that maintains the oil film during low-speed, low-pressure startup -- the phase where the majority of bearing wear occurs.
