Fitment Notes

• 521 includes flush mount faceplates (pre-installed on the lights) for a low-profile, surface-flush installation in bumper cutouts. For the same FLEX ERA 1 backup light kit without flush mount plates - using a universal bottom-mount bracket instead - see KC HiLiTES part number 520 (Standard Backup Light Kit).
• Important: Installing the flush mount faceplate on the FLEX ERA 1 light removes the ability to use the Clear Lens Shield, Amber Lens Shield, and the Black and Yellow Light Cover accessories. These optional accessories are incompatible with the flush mount configuration.
• The flush mount faceplates include a cut template to aid in marking and cutting the bumper opening to the correct dimensions, along with rubber gaskets for a weatherproof, vibration-dampened seal between the light and the bumper surface.
• The included wiring harness is an extended-length backup/reverse light harness - designed with sufficient wire length to route from the rear of the vehicle to the reverse light circuit or a dedicated switch, rather than the shorter harness included with standard forward-facing KC light kits.
• The full-power white LED mode is for off-road use only and is not street-legal as a reverse light in most jurisdictions at this output level. The amber backlight mode may be used as an accent or perimeter light at the operator's discretion.

The KC HiLiTES 521 is a complete two-light FLEX ERA® 1 Flush Mount Backup Light Kit designed for installation in the rear bumper of vehicles equipped with aftermarket bumpers - or certain OEM bumpers - that feature flush-mount backup or dust light provisions. The kit provides everything needed for a complete, low-profile installation: two FLEX ERA 1 LED lights pre-assembled in spread beam configuration, flush mount faceplates pre-installed on the lights, an extended-length wiring harness built for rear-of-vehicle routing, a 3-position switch, a bumper cut template, rubber gaskets, and all mounting hardware. The result is a flush-mounted backup lighting installation where the light face sits at or below the bumper surface - eliminating the protruding pod profile of conventional auxiliary backup lights and significantly improving resistance to trail damage.

Each FLEX ERA 1 in the kit operates in two distinct modes. The 5W amber backlight mode activates the ring of amber LEDs around the perimeter of the light face, creating a distinctive eclipse-like accent effect at low current draw - suitable for use as a perimeter marker or style element when not reversing. The 23W full-power mode activates the high-output white LED array for maximum spread-beam illumination of the area behind the vehicle, delivering 2,430 lumens, 162 lux at 10 meters, and a 127.3-meter beam distance per light - a meaningful improvement over stock incandescent or low-output LED backup lights. The full-power mode is rated for off-road use only. The 3-position switch manages both circuits independently, providing off, amber-only, and full-power operating states.

One important installation note: the flush mount faceplate occupies the same mounting surface as the FLEX ERA 1's optional lens shields and light covers, meaning that Clear Lens Shields, Amber Lens Shields, and the Black and Yellow Cover accessories are not compatible with the flush-mount configuration.
