Fitment Notes

• Compatible with the 2.0L turbocharged 4G63T engine only. Does not fit the naturally aspirated Eclipse RS, GS, or base trim models equipped with the 2.0L non-turbo (420A) or 2.4L naturally aspirated engines.
• This intake requires the use of the factory stock recirculating blow-off valve. Aftermarket atmospheric or venting BOVs will not function correctly with this intake system as installed. The factory recirculating BOV must be retained for proper boost pressure management.
• No tune required. The IS1890BLK is engineered to maintain safe air/fuel ratios across the powerband using the stock ECU calibration.
• CARB Exempt - CARB Executive Order D-476-2. Legal for use on vehicles registered in California and all other CARB-compliant states.
• This intake is also available in a polished aluminum finish - see Injen IS1890P for that option.
• Optional Hydroshield (black): Part #1034BLK - fits filter X-1018. Optional Hydroshield (red): Part #1034RED - recommended for wet or dusty driving conditions.

Product Description

The Injen IS1890BLK is an IS Series short ram intake system engineered specifically for the 1995-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse equipped with the 2.0L turbocharged 4G63T engine - the GST (FWD) and GSX (AWD) coupe and Spyder trims. It delivers dyno-proven gains of up to 13 horsepower and 13 lb-ft of torque with no tune required, making it one of the most established bolt-on intake upgrades for the second-generation DSM platform. The IS1890BLK is the laser black wrinkle powdercoat version; the polished aluminum IS1890P is available for owners who prefer a mirror finish.

There is one critical installation requirement specific to this turbocharged application: the factory stock recirculating blow-off valve must be retained. The IS1890BLK is designed to work with the OEM BOV's recirculating system; an aftermarket atmospheric or venting BOV cannot be used with this intake as installed. This is a function of how the intake tube interfaces with the factory boost plumbing, and running an atmospheric BOV will cause boost pressure management issues. Owners who want an atmospheric BOV should address that modification separately after installation.

The mandrel-bent 6061-T6 aluminum tube replaces the factory restrictive plastic ducting with a smooth, uninterrupted airflow path from the filter to the turbocharger inlet - maximizing charge air volume going into the 4G63T under boost. The SuperNano-Web Dry filter provides greater surface area and lower restriction than the OEM paper element, is cleanable with compressed air, and never requires re-oiling. For owners who drive in wet or muddy environments, the optional Hydroshields (Part #1034BLK or #1034RED) are available to protect the filter from water ingestion. Installation is bolt-on using all included hardware with no permanent modifications required.
