Fitment Notes

• Does NOT fit 2WD Tacoma models with 5-lug wheel studs - 6-lug configurations only
• Compatible with OEM factory upper control arms - a key distinction from the ICON 58615 extended travel coilover kit, which requires aftermarket UCAs
• Compatible with stock ride height and front lifts of 0-3" over stock
• 4WD Tacoma owners with automatic locking hubs should limit front lift to approximately 2" over stock to prevent CV boot damage and premature CV axle wear; 2WD PreRunner models can safely achieve the full 3" of lift
• A front end alignment is strongly recommended after installation and after any subsequent ride height adjustment

Product Description

The ICON Vehicle Dynamics 58610 is a V.S. 2.5 Series internal reservoir front coilover kit engineered for the 1996-2004 Toyota Tacoma (4WD and 2WD PreRunner, 6-lug only) and 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner. The "VS" designation confirms this coilover was valved specifically for the front suspension geometry and weight characteristics of these platforms. The 58610 is the standard travel version of ICON's front coilover for this generation - critically, it is designed to be compatible with the OEM factory upper control arms, which distinguishes it from the 58615 extended travel kit that requires aftermarket UCAs. This makes the 58610 the preferred starting point for owners who want a significant upgrade in front suspension performance without the additional cost and complexity of replacing the upper control arms.

The 2.5" shock body diameter delivers substantially more internal volume and piston area than OE-equivalent shocks, enabling better heat management during sustained off-road use. The race shock piston features flutter stack compression valving - a design borrowed from ICON's desert racing heritage - that provides progressive damping control from the first inch of compression through full stroke. The shock body is nitrogen-charged to 250 PSI and features an internal reservoir that maintains separation between shock oil and gas, preventing foaming and fade under hard use. Ride height is adjusted via the CAD-plated threaded body, allowing the installer to dial in anywhere from stock height to 3" of front lift. A billet aluminum upper mount and 5/8" PTFE-lined spherical bearings complete the assembly.

Important fitment notes: this kit does not fit 2WD Tacoma models with 5-lug wheel studs. On 4WD Tacoma models with automatic locking hubs, front lift should generally be limited to approximately 2" over stock to prevent CV boot damage and premature axle wear; the full 3" lift range is most safely achieved on 2WD PreRunner models.
