This spring kit is purpose-built for diesel-powered Super Duties, with a spring rate specifically calibrated for the greater front-end weight of diesel powertrains - using the same spring on a gas-engine truck would result in incorrect ride height and handling balance, which is why ICON offers separate part numbers for each engine type. The dual rate design is the key differentiator over conventional single-rate lift springs: the softer initial rate absorbs everyday road irregularities for a compliant, comfortable on-road and highway feel, while the firmer secondary rate kicks in under heavy compression to prevent harsh bottom-outs during aggressive off-road use or heavy payload.
