Vehicle Fitment

  • 2021-2025 Ford Bronco - HOSS 2.0 Suspension Package equipped models only (2-Door and 4-Door)
  • HOSS 2.0 is standard equipment on: Badlands, Wildtrak, First Edition, and Everglades trims
  • HOSS 2.0 is optional equipment (requires Sasquatch package) on: Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, and Black Diamond trims

Fitment Notes

  • ONLY compatible with Ford Broncos equipped with the HOSS 2.0 suspension package - HOSS 2.0 is most easily identified by the YELLOW shock bodies on the OE shocks; verify before ordering
  • Does NOT fit the Ford Bronco Raptor under any configuration
  • Does NOT fit Broncos with HOSS 1.0 suspension (non-Sasquatch Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Black Diamond) - see ICON part 48611 for HOSS 1.0 applications
  • Exception: 2022 Ford Bronco Wildtrak equipped with the optional HOSS 3.0 package is NOT compatible with this shock
  • Rear lift height range: 0-1.75" over stock using the snap-ring adjustment system
  • 2-door Bronco models will sit taller than 4-door models at the same snap-ring position
  • This shock reuses the factory rear coil spring, upper shock mount, and spring hardware - the OE coil is not replaced
  • Sold individually - a quantity of 2 is required for a complete rear replacement
  • Aftermarket front upper control arms are recommended when running lift heights above 1.5" to maintain proper front end alignment geometry
  • Running 35" tires on non-Sasquatch Broncos requires ICON high clearance crash bars (part #42000)
  • Running 37" tires requires bump stop spacer kit (ICON part #611082) and may require crash bar removal or additional modifications

Features

  • EXP Series design bridges the gap between basic spacer lifts and full threaded-body coilovers - delivering premium 2.5" shock performance while retaining the factory coil spring, reducing upgrade cost without sacrificing damping quality
  • Vehicle-specific (VS) valving tuned by ICON engineers specifically for the Ford Bronco HOSS 2.0 platform and its factory coil spring rates for optimized on- and off-road damping
  • One-piece digressive piston design delivers progressive damping characteristics - softer during small suspension inputs for daily comfort, firmer during large off-road impacts for control
  • 2.5" shock body diameter provides significantly greater piston area and internal oil volume than OE shocks, resulting in superior heat dissipation and reduced fade during sustained off-road use
  • Snap-ring groove adjustment system allows fast, easily-selectable rear ride height changes from 0-1.75" over stock without removing the shock from the vehicle
  • Factory shaft-up (inverted) orientation retained - shock ends are machined to directly reuse the Bronco's OE upper shock and spring mounts for a bolt-on installation
  • 7/8" diameter induction hardened and chrome-plated shaft delivers exceptional bending strength and corrosion resistance under trail abuse
  • One-piece impact-extruded hard anodized aluminum shock body provides superior abrasion and corrosion resistance with a consistent, high-quality finish
  • CNC machined 6061-billet aluminum coil spring seat is engineered to precisely interface with the molded heavy-duty urethane OE spring seat for each Bronco trim's specific coil spring
  • PTFE-lined spherical bearing provides extended service life and minimal deflection throughout the shock's range of travel
  • 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable - serviceable by any qualified shock technician using ICON-supplied rebuild parts
  • 100% bolt-on installation - no cutting, drilling, or welding required

Product Description

The ICON Vehicle Dynamics 48612 is a 2.5 EXP Series rear coilover shock engineered exclusively for 2021-2025 Ford Broncos equipped with Ford's HOSS 2.0 (High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension 2.0) package. HOSS 2.0 is the factory upgraded suspension system fitted as standard equipment on the Badlands, Wildtrak, First Edition, and Everglades trims, and is optionally available on Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, and Black Diamond trims when the Sasquatch package is selected. The quickest way to confirm HOSS 2.0 fitment is to check the OE shock body color - HOSS 2.0 Broncos have distinctively yellow factory shocks. This shock is not compatible with HOSS 1.0 Broncos, the Bronco Raptor, or the 2022 Wildtrak with the optional HOSS 3.0 package.

The EXP Series concept fills a gap in the suspension upgrade market. Rather than replacing the factory coil spring and hardware entirely - as a full threaded-body coilover does - the 48612 retains the Bronco's OE rear coil spring, upper mount, and spring seat hardware while swapping only the shock absorber itself for ICON's premium 2.5" aluminum body unit. This approach delivers the ride quality and thermal performance of a high-end aftermarket shock at a lower overall cost, since the factory spring and mounting hardware remain in service. Rear ride height is adjusted via a series of snap-ring grooves machined directly into the shock body, allowing the installer to select a lift height between 0 and 1.75" over stock without threading or removing the shock from the vehicle. The shock uses the factory shaft-up (inverted) mounting orientation, with the shaft ends machined to interface directly with the Bronco's OE upper shock and spring seat.

Construction centers on a one-piece impact-extruded hard anodized aluminum shock body paired with a 7/8" induction-hardened chrome-plated shaft - both significantly more capable than the OE steel-bodied shocks they replace. A one-piece digressive piston design, custom valved specifically for the Bronco HOSS 2.0 platform in conjunction with its factory coil spring rates, delivers improved damping control across a wide range of terrain and driving conditions. The 2.5" body diameter yields greater internal oil volume and heat dissipation surface area compared to the smaller OE shocks, preventing fade during sustained high-speed or technical trail use. Every 48612 is 100% rebuildable and revalveable. This shock is sold individually - two units are required for a complete rear replacement.
