Product Description

The ICON Vehicle Dynamics 51100 is a three-leaf progressive rate Add-A-Leaf kit designed to lift the rear of 1996-2023 Toyota Tacomas (4WD and 2WD PreRunner, 6-lug only) and 2000-2006 Toyota Tundras by approximately 1.5" while simultaneously improving rear-end ride quality. Unlike basic single-leaf add-a-leaf kits that simply stack a flat rate leaf on top of the existing pack, the ICON 51100 uses a progressive rate design - the spring rate starts softer for a more compliant unladen ride, then ramps up progressively as load is added. This approach eliminates the harsh, jarring ride quality that the factory overload spring is known for on unloaded Tacomas and Tundras, while still providing adequate support when cargo is present.

Installation replaces the factory overload spring rather than adding to it. Removing the overload effectively lowers the rear spring rate by approximately 10% versus the stock overloaded setup, which accounts for much of the ride quality improvement owners notice after installation. The three-leaf ICON pack then installs in place of the overload, restoring and improving upon the spring stack with the progressive rate tune. The kit ships complete with rear U-bolts and center pins, covering all the hardware needed for installation without requiring separate sourcing. All fasteners must be retorqued after the first 100 miles and periodically thereafter to ensure proper seating.

A few key fitment details must be verified before ordering. This kit does not fit 2WD Tacoma models with 5-lug wheel studs - only 6-lug configurations are supported. The 2017-2023 Tacoma TRD Pro uses factory TRD-tuned leaf springs that are already stiffer than standard Tacoma springs, resulting in approximately 1" of net rear lift rather than the standard 1.5". For 2018 and newer Tacoma models equipped with ADAS camera-based safety systems, recalibration of those systems is required following installation - this is standard practice for any suspension lift on these vehicles.
