The ICON XD Forged Tie Rod Kit (part 55166) upgrades the weak factory steering on your Toyota 4Runner or FJ Cruiser with stronger materials and beefier dimensions than the stock units, letting you push harder off-road without worrying about your steering. Forged from 4140 chromoly steel, these tie rods deliver a level of strength the factory parts simply weren't built for.

The stock tie rods on these platforms use plastic inner races and relatively small-diameter adjustment threads. Under normal street driving they're fine, but add 33"+ tires, aggressive rock crawling, and repeated impact loads, and those plastic races wear out while the slender rods become a bending point.
