The HKS 15004-AH104 is an S-Type air-cooled oil cooler kit engineered specifically for the 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R (FK8). The FK8 comes from the factory with a water-cooled oil cooler - a design that works adequately for street use but becomes a limiting factor under sustained circuit driving, where both oil and coolant temperatures rise sharply and the factory failsafe mode can be triggered. This HKS kit adds a dedicated air-cooled oil cooling circuit that takes the thermal load off the factory water-cooled system, suppressing temperature rise in both oil and coolant and allowing the K20C to maintain stable output through extended high-performance driving.

At the heart of the kit is a newly developed 48mm wide, 9-layer oil cooler core - sized specifically for the FK8's cooling demands and mounted inside the inner fender with a purpose-built aluminum air guide that maximizes airflow over the core. A thermostat (opening at 70°C, fully open at 80°C) prevents overcooling during normal driving, keeping oil temperature in the optimal range at all times. A built-in pulsation noise insulator addresses the cabin noise that can develop from high-pressure oil hoses at elevated engine speeds.
