Fitment Notes

• ALL applications MUST have factory contact overload leaf springs. The 9706 mounts directly to the factory contact overload spring assembly - if your truck is not equipped with factory contact overloads, this kit cannot be installed. The contact overload spring package is typically included on higher GVWR trim levels and trucks ordered with the Camper Package or heavy tow packages.
• 2023-2026 models with adaptive headlights DO NOT fit. Trucks equipped with the adaptive (auto-leveling) headlight system have a sensor bracket that interferes with the 9706 spring installation. Verify your headlight configuration before ordering if your truck is a 2023 or newer model year.
• This kit is the direct successor to the Hellwig 9703, which covers 1988-2015 Ford F-250/F-350. The 9706 uses different spring geometry engineered for the 7th-generation Super Duty (2017+) and late 6th-generation (2016) platform.
• Adding a helper spring does NOT increase the factory Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the vehicle.

The Hellwig 9706 Contact Helper Spring is a rear overload assist kit engineered for 2016-2023 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks equipped with factory contact overload leaf springs. It is the generational successor to the Hellwig 9703 (1988-2015), redesigned with spring geometry specific to the 7th-generation Super Duty platform. The 9706 adds two additional leaves directly on top of the factory contact overload spring assembly, allowing the combined spring system to engage the factory contact pads sooner under load - providing meaningful sag reduction and stability improvement during heavy towing and payload applications before the factory spring pack reaches its full deflection.

The primary use case is F-250 and F-350 owners who push their trucks into the sag zone without fully engaging the factory contact overloads - a common situation with heavy slide-in truck campers, fifth wheel trailers, gooseneck setups, and loaded commercial applications where the weight sags the factory main spring pack but isn't quite heavy enough to fully engage the factory overload through its design range. The 9706 bridges this gap by engaging the contact system sooner and stiffening it when engaged, reducing sag and keeping the rear end closer to level. Factory ride quality when the truck is empty is completely unchanged.

One critical exclusion: on 2023 and newer Super Duty models with adaptive (auto-leveling) headlights, the sensor bracket location physically interferes with installation - these trucks are NOT compatible.
