Fitment Notes

• Rear Air Conditioning Restriction: This kit will NOT fit on any vehicle equipped with rear air conditioning. This restriction applies consistently across all GM truck and SUV applications (Suburban, Blazer, Tahoe, Yukon) and all GM and Dodge van applications. Verify that your vehicle does not have factory or aftermarket rear A/C before ordering.
• Ford Bronco: Fits the full-size Bronco (1966-1996) only. Does NOT fit the early or compact Bronco variants.
• Toyota Tundra: Fits the 1st-generation Tundra (2000-2006) only. The 2007-2021 2nd-generation Tundra uses Hellwig 985.
• Ford F-150: Fits the 1975-2003 generation F-150 (all standard bodies) plus the 2004 F-150 Heritage (which used the 2003 platform). The 2004-2008 standard F-150 uses Hellwig 984.
• Some installations may require longer axle U-bolts than factory (e.g., some F-150 and other applications) - verify U-bolt length compatibility with your truck's spring pack thickness before installing.
• Alternative step-bracket style versions are available for this same application: Hellwig 1801 for 2.5" wide springs and Hellwig 1803 for 3.0" wide springs.

The Hellwig 991 EZ-990 Rear Helper Spring Kit is Hellwig's most broadly applicable universal EZ-990 kit, spanning an extraordinary range of domestic trucks and vans from the early 1960s through the mid-2000s - plus the 1st-generation Toyota Tundra - all sharing a common leaf spring geometry that accommodates this single spring design. From classic Chevrolet C10 and K10 pickups of the 1960s and 1970s, through the GMT-400 and full-size GM SUVs of the 1990s, across the long-running Ford F-150 lineage from 1975-2003, through Dodge's D-series and B-series trucks and vans, and including the 2000-2006 Toyota Tundra, the 991 delivers 2,000 lbs. of additional level load capacity to platforms where the factory leaf springs are no longer adequate for the owner's towing and hauling demands.

The standard EZ-990 installation method applies: the helper springs bolt over the top of the factory leaf packs underneath the axle U-bolt plates, with the factory U-bolts replaced by the heavy-duty U-bolts included in the kit. One practical installation note that applies particularly to some Ford applications: the factory axle U-bolts may be too short to accommodate the added spring height - in these cases, replacement U-bolts approximately 1 inch longer than factory are required. Verify U-bolt clearance before installation.

The single most critical restriction for this kit is rear air conditioning: the 991 will NOT fit any vehicle equipped with rear A/C across all GM truck, SUV, and van applications in the fitment list. This is due to the proximity of the helper spring to the rear A/C lines. Verify your vehicle is not equipped with rear A/C before ordering.
