Vehicle Fitment

  • 2000-2006 Toyota Tundra (All Trims, 2WD/4WD, All Engines)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits both 2WD and 4WD configurations across all 2000-2006 first-generation Tundra trim levels and engine options.
  • Tundra models WITHOUT a factory trailer hitch require the Hellwig 7699 mounting kit, sold separately, for proper installation.
  • Tundra models WITH a factory trailer hitch do not require the additional 7699 kit.
  • This bar is designed for the first-generation Tundra (T150 platform) only - does not fit the second-generation 2007+ Tundra.
  • Designed for use with the factory exhaust system. Minor clearance adjustments may be needed with aftermarket cat-back exhaust systems.
  • Hellwig recommends pairing with the Hellwig 7697 front sway bar for a complete front-to-rear handling upgrade on this platform.

Features

  • Adjustable-rate rear sway bar - purpose-built for the first-generation Toyota Tundra, addressing the platform's well-known rear body sway and roll characteristics.
  • 1-1/8" diameter solid, heat-treated 4140 chromoly spring steel - larger than any factory bar this platform would carry, delivering a significant improvement in rear lateral stiffness.
  • Adjustable rate design allows owners to tune the bar's stiffness to match driving conditions, whether empty, loaded, or towing.
  • Dramatically reduces the rear body sway and side-to-side lean that first-gen Tundra owners commonly experience, especially at highway speeds and during lane changes.
  • Keeps weight more evenly distributed across all four tires during cornering for improved traction and driver confidence.
  • High-durometer polyurethane bushings included for superior roll resistance, reduced noise and vibration, and longer service life than rubber.
  • Heat-formed as a single piece from 4140 chromoly steel - structurally consistent at the bends versus cold-bent aftermarket alternatives.
  • Gray hammertone powdercoated finish for long-term corrosion resistance.
  • Bolt-on installation using factory mounting locations - all hardware included.
  • ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing at Hellwig's Visalia, California facility. Made in the USA. Backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Product Description

The Hellwig 7700 Adjustable Rear Sway Bar is a direct-fit suspension upgrade engineered specifically for the 2000-2006 first-generation Toyota Tundra in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. The first-gen Tundra is widely recognized among owners for its tendency toward pronounced rear body sway - a characteristic that becomes especially noticeable at highway speeds, during lane changes, or when towing. The factory rear suspension lacks the lateral stiffness needed to keep the truck stable under these conditions, and the 7700 directly addresses this with a solid 1-1/8" heat-treated 4140 chromoly bar. The adjustable-rate design allows owners to tune the stiffness level to their specific needs, from relaxed everyday driving to maximum roll control under load.

Installation uses the factory mounting locations and is fully bolt-on for Tundra models equipped with a factory trailer hitch. Owners of Tundras without a factory trailer hitch will need to add the Hellwig 7699 mounting kit (sold separately) to complete the installation. All other hardware, polyurethane bushings, and adjustable end links are included. One consideration for owners with aftermarket cat-back exhaust is that minor positioning adjustments to the end link on the passenger side may be needed to clear the exhaust routing - a straightforward adjustment within the bar's adjustable design.

Fitment covers all 2000-2006 first-generation Tundra models across all trim levels, engine options (3.4L V6 and 4.7L V8), and both 2WD and 4WD drivetrains. This bar is specifically designed for the T150 platform and does not fit the second-generation 2007+ Tundra. Paired with the Hellwig 7697 front sway bar, the 7700 completes a full front-to-rear handling transformation on this platform. Built at Hellwig's ISO 9001:2015 certified Visalia, California facility and backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty, it is a proven American-made solution to one of the most commonly reported handling issues on the first-generation Tundra.
