Vehicle Fitment

This is a universal racing caliper brake pad. It is not vehicle-specific and is not sold for use with OEM stock calipers. Fitment is determined by caliper model. Compatible racing calipers at 0.490 in. thickness include:

  • Wilwood DynaPro 4-piston (forged and billet, lug mount and radial mount) - bridge bolt or two retaining pins (Wilwood pad shape 7812)
  • Wilwood DynaPro Narrow Radial Mount 4-piston - bridge bolt or two retaining pins (Wilwood pad shape 7812)
  • Wilwood DynaPro DPHA 4-piston - bridge bolt or two retaining pins (Wilwood pad shape 7812)

Fitment Notes

  • This pad is universal for racing calipers - it is not designed for OEM stock brake calipers and has no vehicle-specific fitment.
  • Pad thickness: 0.490 in., corresponding to Wilwood pad shape 7812. The same HB542 pad shape is also available at 0.600 in. thickness (Wilwood pad shape 7816), which fits additional Wilwood DynaPro Narrow Lug Mount and Narrow Dynalite 4-piston calipers as well as StopTech ST-42 calipers - verify your specific caliper's required thickness before ordering.
  • This pad fits DynaPro family calipers using a central bridge bolt or two retaining pins. It is not compatible with calipers using only a single central cotter pin for pad retention, such as the Wilwood Forged Dynalite (FDL), Billet Dynalite (BDL), or Dynalite M - those calipers require the HB540 shape (Wilwood pad shape 7112).
  • Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors. For use with iron/metal rotors only.
  • HPS is Hawk's benchmark high-performance street compound, effective from cold ambient through 700°F, making it the practical daily-use and dual-purpose street/autocross choice for vehicles equipped with Wilwood DynaPro big brake kits.
  • Sold as a set of 4 pads (one axle / two calipers). For a full front-and-rear brake upgrade, two sets are required.

Features

  • HPS (High Performance Street) Ferro-Carbon compound - Hawk's benchmark street performance formula for Wilwood DynaPro caliper applications, delivering 20-40% more stopping power than OEM pads while maintaining the low dust, quiet operation, and rotor compatibility demanded by daily-driven performance cars and vehicles that compete at autocross events without dedicated race pads.
  • Effective from dead cold through spirited use - Operates from ambient temperature through 700°F (optimal: 100-500°F), providing improved stopping power from the very first application of the day without a warm-up cycle - making it practical for street-driven vehicles with Wilwood DynaPro big brake kit installations that drive to and from autocross events.
  • 20-40% more stopping power than OEM - The HPS compound's higher coefficient of friction extracts the increased clamping force of the Wilwood DynaPro 4-piston calipers into noticeably stronger brake torque compared to standard replacement compounds, delivering shorter, more confident stopping distances on any vehicle running this caliper system.
  • Excellent fade resistance for a street compound - Withstands the sustained heat generated by aggressive street driving, canyon runs, autocross events, and light track use without the fade that limits standard street replacement compounds in the DynaPro caliper's higher-clamping-force application.
  • Gentle on rotors with extended pad and rotor life - The Ferro-Carbon formulation minimizes abrasive wear on rotor surfaces, extending the service life of both the friction material and the premium rotors typically paired with Wilwood DynaPro caliper installations.
  • Low dust output - Produces significantly less brake dust than performance race compounds, keeping the wheels of DynaPro-equipped vehicles cleaner without sacrificing stopping performance over stock.
  • Virtually noise-free operation - Engineered for quiet, smooth engagement - the preferred characteristic for street-driven vehicles with Wilwood DynaPro calipers where brake noise is unacceptable in daily use.
  • Consistent brake release characteristics - Delivers clean, predictable linear release on each application, supporting the precise brake modulation that Wilwood DynaPro caliper installations are fitted to provide on performance street and dual-use vehicles.
  • 100% asbestos, lead, chromium, cadmium, and antimony free - Manufactured in an ISO-certified facility to strict quality and environmental standards.

Product Description

The Hawk HB542F.490 HPS brake pads bring Hawk's benchmark street performance compound to the Wilwood DynaPro caliper family at 0.490 in. thickness (Wilwood pad shape 7812), fitting DynaPro 4-piston calipers - forged and billet, lug and radial mount - as well as the DynaPro Narrow Radial Mount and DynaPro DPHA, all using either a central bridge bolt or two retaining pins for pad retention. The important distinction from the HB540 (7112) shape is the retention method and caliper family: the HB542 at 0.490" is specifically for the DynaPro bridge bolt and two-pin variants, not for the Forged Dynalite or Billet Dynalite cotter pin calipers. The same HB542 shape is available at 0.600" thickness (pad shape 7816) for additional DynaPro Narrow Lug Mount and Narrow Dynalite variants; verify your caliper's exact pad thickness requirement before ordering.

For Wilwood DynaPro big brake kit owners who use their vehicles on public roads, HPS is the optimal compound choice in this pad shape. It delivers 20-40% more stopping power than OEM replacement compounds from the Wilwood DynaPro caliper's increased 4-piston clamping force, operates from dead cold through 700°F without a warm-up cycle, and maintains the near-silent, low-dust characteristics that make a performance-modified street car livable as a daily driver. For those who also autocross or attend HPDE events and want more thermal headroom, the HP Plus compound (HB542N.490) provides a meaningful step up in fade resistance while remaining streetable, and the DTC-series compounds offer full race-level performance for track-only applications.

Sold as a set of 4 pads covering one axle and two calipers. A second set is required for a complete front-and-rear brake upgrade. Compatible with iron and metal rotors only; carbon ceramic brake discs are not supported.
