Vehicle Fitment

This is a universal racing caliper brake pad. It is not vehicle-specific and is not sold for use with OEM stock calipers. Fitment is determined by caliper model. Compatible racing calipers include:

  • AP Racing CP8250
  • AP Racing (Essex) CP8350-24S4L / CP8350-25S4L / CP8350-26S4L / CP8350-27S4L / CP8350-32S4L / CP8350-33S4L
  • CompBrake Pro Race One
  • StopTech ST-43 / C43
  • Wilwood Narrow Superlite 4 / Narrow Superlite 6 (plate shape 7416)
  • Wilwood Superlite Bridge Bolt
  • Wilwood Superlite 4R / Superlite 6R (plate shape 7416)
  • Wilwood Superlite ST
  • Wilwood Forged Superlite Internal

Fitment Notes

  • This pad is universal for racing calipers - it is not designed for OEM stock brake calipers and has no vehicle-specific fitment.
  • Pad thickness: 0.650 in. This corresponds to Wilwood plate shape 7416. The same pad shape is also available in 0.800 in. thickness (Wilwood plate shape 7420 / AP Racing CP8250D41); verify your specific caliper's required pad thickness before ordering.
  • Some Wilwood Superlite calipers use the bridge bolt retention method, which requires a center mounting hole in the pad. Depending on the specific caliper configuration, the center hole may need to be drilled - verify your caliper's pad retention method before installation.
  • Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors. For use with iron/metal rotors only.
  • DTC-60 is a pure motorsport compound not suitable for street use. It requires sustained operating temperatures that are not achievable in normal road driving, and its aggressive friction characteristics would create unpredictable cold-braking behavior on public roads.
  • The recommended split-friction race setup for many platforms is DTC-70 at the front caliper paired with DTC-60 at the rear, providing optimal front-to-rear brake bias for circuit racing. On lighter vehicles, DTC-60 is commonly run on both axles.
  • Sold as a set of two pads (one caliper). For a full brake system upgrade, one set per caliper is required.

Features

  • DTC-60 Ferro-Carbon compound - Hawk's high-torque motorsport formulation with less initial bite than DTC-70, engineered for vehicles running at high deceleration rates with or without aerodynamic downforce, and specifically recommended for use in AP Racing CP8250/CP8350, StopTech ST-43, and Wilwood Superlite calipers where maximum race-level braking performance is required from a manageable, controllable compound.
  • Superior release and torque control - The DTC-60's precise brake release characteristics are a defining advantage at corner exit, enabling drivers to apply power earlier and more smoothly. This clean release is particularly valuable on rear calipers in split-friction race setups where abrupt rear brake engagement would destabilize the car mid-corner.
  • Very low abrasive rotor wear - Despite its high-torque motorsport classification, the DTC-60 produces significantly lower abrasive rotor wear than compounds positioned above it in Hawk's lineup, extending disc service life across full race weekends and endurance events without premature replacement of the premium rotors typically used with AP Racing and Wilwood caliper systems.
  • Wide operating temperature range - 400-1,600°F total range with a 700-1,100°F optimal window, sustaining consistent high braking torque from early in a track session through the maximum thermal loads of sustained circuit racing without fade.
  • Excellent modulation and consistent pedal feel - Maintains a stable friction coefficient across the full temperature range, delivering repeatable, confidence-inspiring brake torque that allows precise lap-to-lap braking consistency - a critical requirement for drivers calibrating their braking points in competition.
  • Ideal as a rear compound in a DTC-70/DTC-60 split setup - On heavier platforms running AP Racing or Wilwood big brake kits front and rear, pairing DTC-70 at the front caliper with DTC-60 at the rear provides a front-biased brake balance that reduces the risk of rear axle lockup under maximum braking force.
  • Race-validated across multiple motorsport disciplines - Applicable to NASCAR/NASCAR modified, ARCA, Super Late models, pavement circle track, Sports Car/GT/GS, Open Wheel/Formula, and endurance racing applications.
  • 100% asbestos, lead, chromium, cadmium, and antimony free - Manufactured in an ISO-certified facility to strict quality and environmental standards.

Product Description

The Hawk HB521G.650 DTC-60 brake pads deliver Hawk's high-torque motorsport compound to the HB521 pad shape at 0.650 in. thickness, fitting AP Racing CP8250 and CP8350 (Essex), CompBrake Pro Race One, StopTech ST-43/C43, and the Wilwood Superlite family of racing calipers using the 7416 plate shape. In the hierarchy of race compounds available for the HB521 shape, DTC-60 occupies the position directly below DTC-70 - sharing the same 400-1,600°F operating range and 700-1,100°F optimal window, but producing less initial bite and slightly lower peak torque, making it the preferred choice for applications where maximum DTC-70 aggression is not required or where caliper and axle position demands more controllable engagement characteristics.

The most common application for DTC-60 in these calipers is as the rear compound in a split-friction front/rear race setup. On heavy, high-downforce, or high-horsepower vehicles running AP Racing or Wilwood big brake kits on all four corners, pairing DTC-70 at the front caliper with DTC-60 at the rear establishes a front-biased brake balance that allows the front brakes to do the majority of deceleration work while keeping rear brake torque controlled and consistent - preventing rear axle involvement under maximum braking force. On lighter vehicles, DTC-60 is equally effective as the sole compound across both axles, providing high braking torque with superior modulation and release compared to the DTC-70.

DTC-60 is a track-only compound and must not be used for street driving. Its 400-1,600°F operating requirement means it cannot reach effective friction output in normal road driving, and its aggressive characteristics would create unpredictable cold-bite behavior on public roads. At 0.650 in. thickness, this pad is specific to the Wilwood 7416 plate configuration; the same DTC-60 compound is available at 0.800 in. for 7420-plate calipers. Verify your caliper's required pad thickness and retention method - bridge bolt Wilwood calipers may require the center hole to be drilled. Compatible with iron and metal rotors only; carbon ceramic discs are not supported.
