Vehicle Fitment

  • 2016-2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata (ND, 1.5L P5-VP / 2.0L PE-VPS I4, RWD) - Front, w/ Standard (Non-Brembo) Front Calipers
  • 2017-2020 Fiat 124 Spider (1.4L MultiAir Turbocharged I4, RWD) - Front, Standard trim
  • 2017-2020 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth (1.4L MultiAir Turbocharged I4, RWD) - Front

Fitment Notes

  • Position: Front axle only for all applications listed above.
  • Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors. For use with iron/metal rotors only.
  • This pad fits the standard OEM front caliper on the ND-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata (2016-2025) and Fiat 124 Spider (2017-2020). The ND MX-5 was available with an optional Brembo front brake package; that configuration uses a different front pad. Confirm your MX-5's front brake package before ordering.
  • The ND1 MX-5 Miata (2016-2018) uses the 1.5L P5-VP naturally aspirated four-cylinder in some markets; the 2.0L PE-VPS was standard in North America throughout the ND generation. The ND2 (2019-2025 facelift) uses the 2.0L PE-VPS exclusively in North America.
  • The Fiat 124 Spider is mechanically related to the ND MX-5 Miata but uses a Fiat-sourced 1.4L MultiAir turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The 124 Spider Abarth is a sportier trim of the same car. Both share the same front caliper as the standard MX-5, covered by this pad.
  • Sold as an axle set of 4 pads (both front calipers).
  • DTC-30 is a motorsport compound. It is effective from cold through its full operating range and is suitable for autocross and light track use. Expect more dust and noise than street compounds. Not recommended as a pure daily-driver pad - the HPS (F), HPS 5.0 (B), or Performance Ceramic (Z) variants for this pad shape are more appropriate for street-only use.

Features

  • DTC-30 Ferro-Carbon compound - Hawk's multi-purpose motorsport formulation with uniquely controllable torque, smooth consistent feel, and superior release characteristics, engineered specifically for the front caliper of the lightweight MX-5 Miata and Fiat 124 Spider in autocross competition and track day use where the compound's controllable initial bite and clean release support the precise, balanced front brake application that corner entry on these nimble RWD platforms demands.
  • Effective from cold through the full operating range - Unlike higher-temperature DTC compounds that require sustained heat to reach peak performance, DTC-30 delivers effective front brake torque from ambient temperature - a critical advantage for autocross competition where the short run format means front brakes on the lightweight MX-5 rarely reach sustained elevated temperatures before the first timed pass.
  • Controllable torque with smooth consistent bite - The DTC-30's defining characteristic is its smooth, progressive initial engagement and predictable torque delivery, which is especially well-suited to the MX-5 Miata's lightweight, balanced RWD platform where precise front brake modulation at corner entry is a fundamental driver input rather than just an emergency response.
  • Superior release and front torque control - Clean, consistent front brake release supports optimal corner entry behavior on the MX-5 and 124 Spider, allowing the driver to trail-brake with confidence and carry maximum corner entry speed without residual front brake drag that would tighten the line or upset the car's balance.
  • Wide effective temperature range - 100-1,200°F total range (optimal: 100-800°F), covering the front brake temperatures generated by the lightweight MX-5 and 124 Spider across autocross, novice and intermediate HPDE sessions, and light club racing where these cars are among the most popular competitive platforms.
  • Very low front rotor wear - Produces significantly lower front disc wear than DTC-60 and DTC-70, extending rotor service life across competitive seasons - an important practical consideration on the smaller, lighter MX-5 front rotors where rotor replacement costs are meaningful for regular competitors.
  • Popular split friction pairing with DTC-30 rear - On the lightweight MX-5 platform, running DTC-30 front and rear provides consistent, predictable front-to-rear brake torque balance for drivers who want maximum braking performance from cold without the thermal sensitivity of higher-tier race compounds.
  • 100% asbestos, lead, chromium, cadmium, and antimony free - Manufactured in an ISO-certified facility to strict quality and environmental standards.

Product Description

The Hawk HB898W.572 DTC-30 front brake pads fit the standard OEM front caliper of the ND-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata (2016-2025) and Fiat 124 Spider including the Abarth trim (2017-2020). The ND MX-5 was available with an optional Brembo front brake package that requires a different front pad - confirm your car's brake configuration before ordering. Both the standard MX-5 and the Fiat 124 Spider (which shares the ND platform with a Fiat turbocharged engine) are covered by this pad. Sold as an axle set of 4 pads.

DTC-30 is the ideal front compound for MX-5 Miata and 124 Spider owners who compete at autocross events and attend HPDE sessions. The ND MX-5 is one of the most popular autocross and track day platforms in North America, and the DTC-30's combination of strong cold bite, controllable initial torque, and clean release directly supports the precise, trail-braking-heavy driving style that competitive MX-5 drivers use to maximize the car's exceptional front-to-rear balance. The compound's effectiveness from ambient temperature is particularly valuable in the short-run autocross format where the front brakes never accumulate sustained heat, and its wide 100-1,200°F range accommodates the variable conditions of novice through intermediate HPDE use. It remains streetable for dual-use owners at the cost of more dust and noise than street compounds.

This pad is for the front axle only. A separate rear pad is required for a complete brake upgrade. Compatible with iron and metal rotors only; carbon ceramic brake discs are not supported.
