Fitment Notes

  • Position: Rear axle only for all applications listed above.
  • FMSI Caliper Reference: D1124.
  • Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors. For use with iron/metal rotors only.
  • For the Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ, and Toyota 86 applications: these vehicles were available with an optional Brembo front brake package. This pad fits the standard rear caliper (FMSI D1124) present on all FR-S/BRZ/86 models regardless of front brake configuration. The Brembo option only affects the front calipers - all FR-S, BRZ, and 86 models use the same standard rear caliper covered by this pad.
  • The Toyota 86 launched for 2017 in North America. The Scion FR-S ran 2013-2016 before the Scion brand was discontinued. The Subaru BRZ ZC6 generation ran 2013-2020 in North America. All three are essentially the same platform (Toyota/Subaru joint development, ZN6/ZC6 chassis) and share the same rear caliper.
  • The 2017 Toyota 86 "Exc.Brembo Front Brakes" notation on some listings refers to front brake package variation - the rear caliper is the same across all 86 trim levels.
  • The Subaru Legacy GT (2010-2014), Legacy 3.6R (2010-2014), Outback 3.6R (2010-2014), Forester XT (2014-2018), and Tribeca/B9 Tribeca (2006-2014) share the same rear caliper (FMSI D1124) as the BRZ/FR-S/86 platform due to shared Subaru brake architecture.
  • OE clips and shims are included for FR-S/BRZ/86 applications per Hawk fitment notation.

Features

  • Performance Ceramic compound - Hawk's premium ultra-low dust, ultra-quiet ceramic composite formulation, engineered to meet and exceed the low-noise and low-dust performance standards of OEM ceramic pads while delivering improved stopping power over stock replacement compounds - the ideal rear brake upgrade for BRZ, FR-S, 86, Legacy, Outback, and Forester owners who prioritize wheel cleanliness and daily-driver refinement.
  • Ultra-low dust output - Produces a fraction of the brake dust generated by Ferro-Carbon compounds, keeping the rear wheels of these vehicles visibly cleaner between washes - a particular advantage on lighter, more aggressively styled wheels common on the BRZ/FR-S/86 platform where wheel appearance is a point of pride.
  • Extremely quiet rear brake operation - Engineered specifically to reduce brake NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), the Performance Ceramic delivers near-silent rear brake engagement in all driving conditions, making it especially well-suited to daily-driven performance cars where brake squeal would be unacceptable.
  • Linear friction profile for enhanced ABS performance - The ceramic compound's stable, progressive friction coefficient allows the ABS system to operate in its optimal engagement zone, enabling more effective modulation of rear brake force during threshold braking and improving overall stopping consistency across the shared BRZ/FR-S/86/Legacy/Outback platform.
  • Improved stopping power over OEM - Delivers better rear stopping power than standard OEM replacement compounds, improving overall braking balance and contributing to shorter total stopping distances for all covered vehicles.
  • Reduced brake pad and rotor wear - The ceramic formulation produces lower abrasive wear on both the padlets and rear iron disc surfaces, extending service intervals and rotor longevity.
  • Fade-resistant street performance - Provides consistent rear brake performance across the temperatures of spirited street driving and light autocross use, maintaining predictable rear brake behavior where OEM pads begin to show wear-induced inconsistency.
  • Stable friction output across temperature range - Maintains a consistent friction coefficient from cold ambient through elevated operating temperatures, delivering predictable rear brake behavior on all covered platforms from the first stop of the day.
  • 100% asbestos, lead, chromium, cadmium, and antimony free - Manufactured in an ISO-certified facility to strict quality and environmental standards.

Product Description

The Hawk HB671Z.628 Performance Ceramic rear brake pads fit the FMSI D1124 rear caliper shared across a broad range of Subaru-family and Subaru/Toyota joint-platform vehicles. The primary applications are the Scion FR-S (2013-2016), Subaru BRZ (2013-2020), and Toyota 86 (2017-2020) - three variants of the same ZN6/ZC6 rear-wheel-drive sports car platform - along with the Subaru Legacy GT and 3.6R (2010-2014), Outback 3.6R (2010-2014), Forester XT (2014-2018), and Tribeca/B9 Tribeca (2006-2014). The FR-S, BRZ, and 86 were available with an optional Brembo front brake package; this rear pad fits all FR-S/BRZ/86 models regardless of front brake configuration, as the Brembo option only affects the front calipers.

Among the available compounds for the HB671 rear pad shape, Performance Ceramic is the definitive choice for daily-driven vehicles and owners who prioritize wheel cleanliness and quiet operation. It delivers better rear stopping power than OEM replacement pads while producing a fraction of the brake dust and operating virtually silently - preserving the look and refinement of these vehicles on public roads. For the BRZ/FR-S/86 platform in particular, where owner attention to wheel appearance is high and the lightweight sports car character demands quiet, composed rear brake behavior, the Performance Ceramic is the optimal rear compound for street and occasional autocross use.

This pad is for the rear axle only. A separate front pad is required for a complete brake upgrade. Compatible with iron and metal rotors only; carbon ceramic brake discs are not supported.
