  • 2011-2014 Ford Mustang GT (S197 Gen II, 5.0L Coyote V8, RWD) - Front, w/ Standard Brakes, Exc. Optional Brembo Package

Fitment Notes

  • Position: Front axle only for all applications listed above.
  • FMSI Caliper Reference: D1081.
  • Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors. For use with iron/metal rotors only.
  • This pad fits the standard front brake caliper (FMSI D1081) used on the V6 and GT trims across the full 2005-2014 S197 Mustang generation. It does not fit the GT500 (any year, 2007-2014) or any Mustang GT equipped with the optional Brembo performance brake package (available on 2011-2014 GT). Those applications use a larger, distinct front caliper requiring a different pad.
  • The 2008-2009 Bullitt and 2007-2008 Shelby GT share the standard GT front caliper (D1081) and are covered by this fitment.
  • The Boss 302 (2012-2013) uses the Brembo-equipped front caliper and is excluded from this fitment.
  • The S197 Gen I (2005-2010) GT uses the 4.6L 3V SOHC V8 (Three-Valve Modular). The S197 Gen II (2011-2014) GT uses the 5.0L Coyote V8. Both share the same standard front caliper on non-Brembo cars.
  • OE clips are included with certain model year applications per Hawk's fitment designation; no separate hardware purchase is required for OEM caliper installations on listed vehicles.

Features

  • HPS (High Performance Street) Ferro-Carbon compound - Hawk's benchmark street performance formula, developed using aerospace and motorsport friction technology, delivering 20-40% more stopping power than OEM front pads while maintaining the low dust, quiet operation, and rotor compatibility that the S197 Mustang demands as a daily-driven performance car.
  • 20-40% more stopping power over stock - The HPS compound's higher coefficient of friction produces noticeably shorter front stopping distances than OEM pads, delivered consistently whether brakes are cold on the morning commute or at operating temperature during spirited driving on the street or strip.
  • Effective from ambient temperature through spirited use - Operates from dead cold through 700°F (optimal: 100-500°F), providing improved front braking immediately without any warm-up requirement - an important characteristic for a Mustang used as a daily driver that also sees autocross events or occasional drag strip passes.
  • Excellent fade resistance for a street compound - Withstands the sustained front brake heat generated during back-to-back hard stops, canyon driving, and light track use at a level that standard OEM and economy replacement pads on the S197 cannot match before experiencing thermal fade.
  • Gentle on front rotors with extended pad life - The Ferro-Carbon formulation minimizes abrasive wear on the S197 Mustang's front disc surfaces, extending both the friction material and rotor service life compared to more aggressive performance compounds - an advantage for owners who keep their Mustangs for many years and high mileages.
  • Low dust output - Produces measurably less brake dust than OEM replacement compounds, keeping the Mustang's front wheels cleaner between washes without sacrificing the stopping performance improvement over stock.
  • Virtually noise-free operation - Engineered for quiet, smooth front brake engagement, preserving the refined daily-driver character of the S197 Mustang without squeal or harshness across all temperatures and seasonal conditions.
  • Consistent brake release characteristics - Delivers a clean, predictable linear release at the front axle, supporting confident modulation and smooth power application on the Mustang's rear-wheel-drive platform.
  • 100% asbestos, lead, chromium, cadmium, and antimony free - Manufactured in an ISO-certified facility to strict quality and environmental standards.

Product Description

The Hawk HB484F.670 HPS front brake pads are engineered for the standard front brake caliper (FMSI D1081) of the full 2005-2014 Ford Mustang V6 and GT lineup - spanning the S197 Gen I (2005-2010) and Gen II (2011-2014) platforms and including the 2008-2009 Bullitt and 2007-2008 Shelby GT. The pad fits every non-GT500, non-Brembo front caliper application across both generations, covering the 4.0L V6, 4.6L 3V SOHC V8, 3.7L V6, and 5.0L Coyote V8 powertrains. The GT500 (2007-2014) and any GT equipped with the optional Brembo performance brake package (2011-2014) use a different, larger front caliper and are excluded. The Boss 302 (2012-2013), which uses the Brembo-equipped caliper, is similarly excluded.

The HPS compound delivers 20-40% more stopping power than OEM front pads and operates from dead cold through 700°F - making it an ideal upgrade for the S197 owner who wants substantially better front brake performance for the street, occasional autocross events, or strip runs without sacrificing the quiet, low-dust character that makes the Mustang livable as a daily driver. The Ferro-Carbon formula is gentle on front rotors, extending disc service life beyond what more aggressive compounds would deliver, and the low-dust output helps keep the Mustang's wheels presentable. For the large number of S197 owners who have upgraded the engine and suspension but left the brakes at OEM spec, the HBS compound front pad is the natural first brake system upgrade.

This pad is for the front axle only. A matching rear pad is required for a complete front-and-rear brake upgrade. Compatible with iron and metal rotors only; carbon ceramic brake discs are not supported.
