Fitment Notes

  • Position: Rear axle only for all applications listed above.
  • FMSI Caliper Reference: D732.
  • Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors. For use with iron/metal rotors only.
  • This pad is compatible with the Corvette C5 (Base and Z06) and the C6 Base and Z51 Package only. The C6 Z06 (2006-2013) uses a larger, distinct J56 rear caliper and requires a different pad. The C6 ZR1 uses a carbon ceramic brake system and is not compatible with this or any iron-rotor pad.
  • The 2008 C6 Base was available with either the 6.0L LS2 or 6.2L LS3 depending on build date; both engine variants use the same rear caliper covered by this fitment.
  • The Cadillac XLR and XLR-V share the Corvette C5/C6 rear suspension and brake architecture, confirming caliper compatibility with this pad.
  • DTC-60 is a pure motorsport compound and is not suitable for street use. It requires sustained operating temperatures that cannot be achieved in normal road driving. Use on-track only.
  • For C6 Base/Z51 owners running this pad at the rear, the DTC-70 front compound (HB247U.575) is the recommended pairing to achieve optimal front-to-rear brake bias on the heavier C6 platform.

Features

  • DTC-60 Ferro-Carbon compound - Hawk's high-torque race formulation engineered specifically for vehicles operating at sustained high deceleration rates, delivering high brake torque with less initial bite than the DTC-70 - making it the ideal rear compound on a split friction DTC-70/DTC-60 setup for the Corvette's weight and power.
  • Superior release and torque control - The DTC-60's defining characteristic is its controllable, precise brake release at corner exit. On the Corvette's RWD platform, clean rear release is critical for maintaining stability and preventing oversteer under trail-braking.
  • Very low abrasive rotor wear - Despite its high-torque motorsport classification, the DTC-60 produces minimal abrasive wear on disc surfaces compared to other race compounds at similar torque levels, extending rotor service life across long race weekends.
  • Wide operating temperature range - 400-1,600°F total operating range with an optimal zone of 700-1,100°F, maintaining consistent, high-torque rear brake performance across extended track sessions without fade.
  • Excellent modulation and consistent pedal feel - The DTC-60 provides a stable, predictable torque curve throughout the braking zone, giving drivers confidence to brake later and harder than is possible with street or HP Plus compounds.
  • Ideal rear compound for the DTC split-friction strategy on the Corvette - On the C5 and C6, the DTC-60 at the rear with DTC-70 at the front delivers the optimal front-to-rear brake bias for high-speed circuit racing, reducing the risk of rear lockup under maximum deceleration.
  • Race-proven across multiple disciplines - Validated in Sports Car/GT/GS, pavement circle track, NASCAR/NASCAR modified, ARCA, Super Late models, Open Wheel/Formula, and Pro Off-Road truck applications.
  • Integrally molded without shims - Direct pad-to-piston interface with no loose hardware to migrate or rattle at race temperatures.
  • 100% asbestos, lead, chromium, cadmium, and antimony free - Manufactured in an ISO-certified facility.

Product Description

The Hawk HB248G.650 DTC-60 rear brake pads are built for the rear axle of the Chevrolet Corvette C5 (1997-2004, Base and Z06) and C6 Base and Z51 Package (2005-2013), as well as the Cadillac XLR (2004-2009) and XLR-V (2006-2009) - all of which share the same FMSI D732 rear brake caliper derived from the C5 Corvette's rear suspension architecture. The DTC-60 compound is Hawk's benchmark high-torque race formulation for the rear axle of larger, heavier performance cars, where the goal is delivering maximum sustained rear brake torque without overloading the rear axle or inducing instability under aggressive trail-braking.

On the C5 and C6 Corvette, the standard race setup pairs DTC-60 at the rear with DTC-70 at the front - a split friction strategy that balances aggressive front bite against a more controlled rear torque curve, giving the driver confidence to brake deeper into corners without the rear stepping out. The DTC-60 operates across 400-1,600°F (optimal: 700-1,100°F) and maintains a stable friction coefficient throughout sustained track sessions, allowing the Corvette's ABS system to operate at its full capability. Its superior release characteristics - one of the hallmark traits of the DTC-60 compound - are particularly important on the Corvette's RWD platform, where clean rear brake release at corner exit is essential for applying power smoothly without inducing oversteer.

C6 Corvette owners should note that this pad is compatible with the Base and Z51 Package rear calipers only. The C6 Z06 uses a distinct, larger J56 rear caliper not covered by this fitment, and the C6/C7 ZR1 uses a carbon ceramic brake system that is incompatible with any iron-rotor pad. The DTC-60 is a track-only compound and must not be used for street driving. It is sold as a set of two rear pads and requires iron or metal rotors; carbon ceramic discs are not supported.
