Vehicle Fitment

  • 1984-1995 Mazda RX-7 FC (Series 1-5, 1.3L 12A and 13B N/A and Turbo) - Rear
  • 2003-2005 Mazda 6 (2.3L i and 3.0L S) - Rear
  • 2003 Mazda Protege Mazdaspeed (2.0L Turbo) - Rear
  • Mazda 323 (BG 6th Gen 1989-1994; BJ 8th Gen 1998-2003, various engine variants) - Rear

Fitment Notes

  • Rear brake pad set - fits left and right rear calipers. One set includes all pads needed for both rear corners.
  • NOT for street use. The DTC-60 is a race-only compound that requires high operating temperatures to function effectively. It is not suitable for public road driving or street-only vehicles.
  • Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors. For use with iron/steel rotors only.
  • When used in a split friction setup, DTC-60 on the rear pairs well with DTC-70 on the front on larger, heavier vehicles. On lighter vehicles, DTC-60 is sometimes run on the front with DTC-30 on the rear - confirm your axle weight bias and vehicle setup before selecting compound placement.
  • Requires a proper motorsport bedding/burnishing procedure before competition use. Follow Hawk's included instructions.
  • Verify fitment against your specific model year and caliper type - particularly for the RX-7 FC, which used different rear brake configurations across its production run.

Features

  • DTC-60 race compound - high torque with less initial bite than DTC-70, delivering superior release and torque control characteristics for precise rear brake modulation.
  • Operating temperature range of 205-870°C (400-1,600°F) with optimal performance at 370-595°C - effective across the high-temperature window generated in sustained track driving and motorsport competition.
  • Excellent modulation and release characteristics - provides progressive, controllable rear braking with minimal lock-up risk under aggressive deceleration.
  • Superior pad and rotor wear versus DTC-70 - approximately 30-35% longer pad life at approximately 10% less maximum torque, making it a preferred choice for endurance and multi-session track use.
  • Designed for cars with high deceleration rates with or without downforce - suitable for slick and DOT R compound tire applications.
  • Recommended as the rear pad in a split friction setup with DTC-70 on the front axle for larger, heavier performance and race vehicles.
  • Very low abrasive rotor wear compared to more aggressive track compounds.
  • Applicable to a wide range of motorsport disciplines: NASCAR/NASCAR modified, ARCA, Super Late Models, pavement circle track, Sports Car/GT/GS, Open Wheel/Formula, Pro 2/Pro 4 off-road, and gravel and tarmac rally.

Product Description

The Hawk Performance HB158G.515 is a rear disc brake pad set in the DTC-60 compound - Hawk's most popular track-only friction material and the preferred rear compound in split friction setups paired with DTC-70 up front. The DTC-60 delivers the same operating temperature window as the DTC-70 (205-870°C / 400-1,600°F), but with less initial bite and lower peak torque, resulting in more progressive rear brake engagement, superior modulation and release, and meaningfully better pad longevity. For larger, heavier performance and race vehicles, the DTC-60 rear / DTC-70 front split is a widely used and proven combination that balances front braking aggression with controlled, predictable rear axle behavior.

This pad fits the rear caliper positions on the Mazda RX-7 FC (1984-1995), Mazda 6 (2003-2005), Mazda Protege Mazdaspeed (2003), and Mazda 323 (various generations). It is not a street pad - the DTC-60 requires elevated operating temperatures to reach its friction coefficient and will not perform correctly in normal street driving conditions. A proper bedding procedure must be completed before competition use. Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors; designed for iron/steel rotors only.
