  • 2004-2005 Mazdaspeed Miata (1.8L BP-Z3 Turbo I4, RWD) - Rear

Fitment Notes

  • Rear axle application only - FMSI D891.
  • Fits 2001-2005 Mazda Miata NB models equipped with the factory Sport Suspension package only - vehicles with standard suspension use a different rear caliper and are not compatible.
  • Paired with HB431W.606 (DTC-30) or HB431G.606 (DTC-60) on the front axle for a split-friction race setup.
  • For track, HPDE, and race use only - not recommended for street daily driving.
  • Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors; designed for iron/metal rotors only.
  • Expect increased noise, dust, and rotor wear compared to street compounds.
  • No shims, hardware, or electronic wear sensor included.

Features

  • DTC-60 compound delivers high torque with less aggressive initial bite than DTC-70 - an ideal rear compound for the Miata's lightweight, balanced braking demands.
  • Superior release and torque control characteristics for precise, repeatable braking at circuit speeds.
  • Very low abrasive rotor wear for a high-torque race compound - extended rotor life in endurance and sprint formats.
  • High temperature operating range of 400-1600°F with an optimal window of 700-1100°F - built for sustained track heat cycles.
  • Popular choice on lightweight rear axle applications, effective with or without ABS.
  • Ideal for split-friction setups on the rear axle paired with a higher-torque compound up front.
  • Proven in NASCAR, ARCA, Sports Car/GT, and Open Wheel/Formula competition.
  • Backed by Hawk's limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

Product Description

The Hawk HB442G.496 DTC-60 rear brake pads are engineered for the rear axle of the 2001-2005 Mazda Miata NB equipped with the factory Sport Suspension package, and the 2004-2005 Mazdaspeed Miata - all using the FMSI D891 rear caliper. As with the front companion pad (HB431), this is a critical fitment detail: Miatas with standard suspension use a different rear caliper and are not compatible. The DTC-60 is Hawk's high-torque race compound designed specifically for cars with high deceleration rates, delivering less aggressive initial bite than the DTC-70 while maintaining extremely high sustained torque output - making it a natural choice for the Miata's rear axle in a split-friction configuration.

For Miata racers competing in SCCA Spec Miata, time attack, or endurance events, the DTC-60 rear is often paired with a more progressive compound like the DTC-30 or Blue 9012 on the front axle to optimize brake bias and prevent rear lock-up under trail braking. The pad's very high temperature operating range and superior release characteristics make it effective across a wide range of circuit conditions. A proper race bed-in procedure is required after installation, and these pads should not be driven on public roads.
