Fitment Notes

• Position: Rear axle only for all applications listed above.
• FMSI Caliper Reference: D891.
• Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors. For use with iron/metal rotors only.
• This pad fits only 2001-2005 Mazda Miata models equipped with the Sport Suspension package, which came with upgraded rear brake hardware using the FMSI D891 caliper. Standard NB Miatas without the Sport Suspension option use a different rear caliper and require a different pad.
• The 2004-2005 Mazdaspeed Miata is not covered by this rear fitment. The Mazdaspeed used a distinct rear brake caliper that does not share the D891 pad shape. For Mazdaspeed rear brake upgrades, verify the correct FMSI caliper reference before ordering.
• The 1999-2000 NB1 Miata is not covered by this fitment. The Sport Suspension D891 rear caliper was introduced with the NB2 platform refresh in 2001.
• The matching front pad for the same Sport Suspension NB Miata application is HB431N.606 (FMSI D890) - this pad covers the rear axle only.
• OE clips and shims are included with this pad for direct-fit OEM caliper installation.

The Hawk HB442N.496 HP Plus rear brake pads are the rear-axle companion to the HB431N.606 front pad, together forming a complete HP Plus front-and-rear brake upgrade for the 2001-2005 Mazda Miata (NB / NB2) equipped with the Sport Suspension package. The Sport Suspension option fitted a larger, distinct rear caliper (FMSI D891) alongside the upgraded front caliper (FMSI D890), and this pad is specific to that rear caliper. Standard NB Miatas without the Sport Suspension option use a different rear caliper and require a different pad. The 2004-2005 Mazdaspeed Miata, which uses a distinct rear brake arrangement, is not covered by this rear fitment despite sharing the same front D890 caliper.
