Fitment Notes

• Compatible with Haltech Nexus and Elite ECUs via NSP software only. Not compatible with older Haltech ECUs using ECU Manager software or the Platinum Series.
• The Half Bridge Outputs (HBOs) are NOT suitable for Drive By Wire (DBW) throttle body control - do not use for electronic throttle applications.
• When using HBOs, the Nexus IO16 must be powered via the constant power pins and power ground pins - not via key-switch power alone. Ensure wiring reflects this before enabling HBO functions.
• The 2.6M (8.5') universal wire-in harness is pre-terminated at the IO16 module end - the sensor/output end requires wiring to the specific devices being connected.
• The IO16 connects to the ECU via CAN bus - confirm a CAN port is available on the ECU before installation.

Product Description

The Haltech HT-196200 Nexus IO16 is a CAN-connected input/output expander that adds 16 user-configurable channels to compatible Haltech Nexus and Elite ECUs - without consuming any of the ECU's onboard I/O capacity. It provides 6 analog voltage inputs (AVI), 4 synchronised pulsed inputs (SPI), and 6 half bridge outputs (HBO), all accessible and configurable through Haltech's NSP software as if they were native ECU channels. This makes it ideal for builds that have maxed out the ECU's onboard inputs or outputs, or where auxiliary sensors, solenoids, PWM-controlled valves, or speed inputs need to be added without upgrading to a larger ECU.

The kit includes a 2.6M (8.5') universal wire-in harness pre-terminated at the IO16 module end, providing a ready-made extension for wiring the expander to the vehicle's sensors and outputs. The IO16 connects to the ECU via CAN bus, and NSP software integration is required - it is not compatible with Haltech Platinum Series ECUs or ESP software. The Half Bridge Outputs are capable of 8A sink and source current at up to 2.2kHz switching, but are not suitable for Drive By Wire throttle body control. When using HBOs, constant power must be supplied to the IO16 via the dedicated power pins in the harness. For builders who prefer to wire their own connector, the IO16 is also available as a module-only variant (HT-196000) or with a plug and pin kit (HT-196100).
