Fitment Notes

• Requires a Haltech TCA2 or TCA4 thermocouple amplifier - this thermocouple does not connect directly to the ECU without an amplifier.
• Fitting hardware (weld-in bung, nut, and ferrule) is NOT included. Order separately - common options include Haltech's 1/4" weld-on bung kits.
• The open tip design provides faster thermal response than sheathed probes but is more fragile - avoid direct contact with exhaust headers or other solid surfaces during installation routing.
• Cable length is 1.87M (73.5") - one of the longest variants in the Haltech 1/4" open tip thermocouple range, suited to large chassis builds, mid-engine conversions, or rear-exhaust configurations where significant cable routing distance exists between the sensor bung and the TCA amplifier.

Product Description

The Haltech HT-010871 is a 1/4" open tip K-type thermocouple with a 1.87M (73.5") cable - one of the longest variants in Haltech's 1/4" open tip thermocouple series. It is designed for exhaust gas temperature (EGT) monitoring and high-temperature measurement on naturally aspirated and forced induction engines where a long cable routing distance exists between the exhaust sensor bung and the TCA amplifier. Typical applications include large-format tube-frame race cars, mid-engine conversions, rear-engine builds, or any installation where the amplifier is remotely mounted far from the exhaust system. The open tip design delivers rapid thermal response, capturing fast EGT changes during boost transitions and sustained high-load race conditions. Operating range is 0°C to 1,100°C (32°F to 2,012°F).

The thermocouple terminates in a mini K-type connector and plugs directly into Haltech's TCA2 or TCA4 thermocouple amplifier, which is required for ECU or data logger integration - the probe does not connect directly to the ECU without an amplifier. Fitting hardware (weld-in bung, nut, ferrule) is sold separately. For shorter routing requirements, Haltech offers this thermocouple in lengths starting from 0.72M (HT-010861) through to this and longer variants to suit any chassis configuration.
