Description

Vehicle Fitment

  • 1990-1995 BMW M5 (E34), Sedan and Touring, with self-leveling rear suspension (SLS)

Fitment Notes

  • Specific to E34 M5 models equipped with factory self-leveling suspension - a different H&R part is required for non-self-leveling E34 5 Series models
  • Vehicles fitted with factory sport suspension (e.g., BMW M-Technic) will show less lowering than stated, as they are already lowered from the factory

Features

  • Progressive spring rate design maintains comfortable, stock-like ride quality while improving control
  • Lowers center of gravity to reduce body roll and improve cornering grip
  • Reduces fender well gap for a more aggressive stance
  • Manufactured from high-strength spring steel, shot-peened to more than double spring life
  • Powder-coated finish improves corrosion resistance and appearance
  • Designed to work with factory or retrofit shocks and dampers - no additional hardware required
  • Each spring 100% tested before leaving H&R's ISO 9001 certified facility in Germany

Specifications

  • Approx. front lowering: 1.25"
  • Approx. rear lowering: 0.3"
  • Spring material: High-strength spring steel
  • Spring rate: Progressive

Included Components

  • 2x Front Lowering Springs
  • 2x Rear Lowering Springs

Product Description

The H&R 29579 is a progressive-rate sport lowering spring set built specifically for the E34 BMW M5 - both Sedan and Touring body styles - equipped with factory self-leveling rear suspension. It drops the car roughly 1.25" up front and a more modest 0.3" in the rear (the rear figure kept intentionally conservative to preserve proper function of the self-leveling system), tightening up the factory stance and lowering the center of gravity for improved handling.

Like the rest of H&R's Sport Spring line, it's built from high-strength spring steel, shot-peened for more than double the fatigue life of an untreated spring, and finished with a powder coat for corrosion resistance. It's designed to pair with the E34 M5's factory or retrofit dampers without requiring a shock upgrade, and every spring is tested before leaving H&R's ISO 9001 facility in Germany.

This is the right part specifically for an E34 M5 with self-leveling suspension - the SLS system's hydraulic rear self-leveling mechanism means it can't simply be treated like a standard coil spring setup, which is why H&R engineers a distinct, more conservative rear drop for these cars. Owners of non-M5 E34 5 Series models, or M5s without factory self-leveling, will need a different H&R part number matched to their specific rear suspension type.
