Vehicle Fitment

  • 2007-2015 Audi TT MK2 (8J - FWD / FrontTrak only - all engine variants)
  • 2007-2014 Volkswagen Eos (all trims and engines)
  • 2005.5-2009 Volkswagen Golf V / GTI MK5 (all trims including GTI 2.0T and Rabbit 2.5)
  • 2005.5-2010 Volkswagen Jetta V MK5 (all trims including base, 2.5, 2.0T, GLI)
  • 2011-2018 Volkswagen Jetta VI MK6 (all trims including S, SE, SEL, GLI, Hybrid, TDI)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits Audi TT MK2 (8J) FWD / FrontTrak models only - does NOT fit the Audi TT Quattro (AWD), which uses a different rear suspension layout with separate subframe and link geometry incompatible with this bar
  • Fits both MK5 Jetta (2005.5-2010) and MK6 Jetta (2011-2018) - both generations share the PQ35 platform rear suspension architecture with the same sway bar mounting geometry
  • The 2-hole forged end design provides two adjustable attachment positions per side, allowing the bar's effective stiffness to be tuned between a softer and a firmer setting by moving the end link attachment point
  • OEM end links are typically reused - check end link length and condition before installation and replace if worn
  • Professional installation recommended; H&R sway bar bushing brackets bolt to OEM mounting locations - no drilling or modification required
  • For the 22mm version of this same bar (slightly softer rear roll stiffness on the same platforms), see H&R 71750-22

Features

  • 24mm diameter - significantly larger than the OEM rear stabilizer bar on most MK5/MK6 Jetta, Golf V/GTI, Eos, and FWD TT applications. The larger cross-section produces substantially higher torsional stiffness, directly reducing the amount the chassis rolls during cornering and increasing the mechanical load transfer across the rear axle for improved lateral grip and handling responsiveness
  • 2-position adjustable forged ends - the machined-like forged end allows the sway bar end link to be attached at either of two positions along the end of the bar. The inner hole produces a longer effective lever arm and softer rear roll stiffness, suitable for a balanced daily driving setup or for reducing oversteer tendency. The outer hole shortens the lever arm and produces firmer rear roll resistance, increasing rear traction under aggressive lateral loading and improving cornering balance on a well-sorted suspension system
  • 50CrV4 chromium-vanadium spring steel - H&R's alloy of choice for sway bar production. 50CrV4 (European designation) is a high-grade spring steel with excellent tensile strength, fatigue resistance, and toughness. H&R specifies it as providing the highest tensile strength available in their sway bar program, with consistent alloy composition across the entire bar cross-section guaranteeing predictable and uniform torsional behavior
  • Shot peened and heat treated - shot peening introduces compressive residual stresses at the bar's surface, significantly improving fatigue life by resisting crack initiation under cyclic loading. Heat treatment refines the steel's grain structure and optimizes the strength-to-toughness ratio for long-term durability under repeated suspension deflection cycles
  • Precision forged ends - the end sections are formed by forging rather than simple bending or stamping, producing a denser, stronger material structure in the most mechanically loaded portion of the bar where end link forces are applied
  • Proprietary Urethane/Teflon composite bushings - the center mount bushings that attach the sway bar to the chassis feature a unique material combination: urethane provides structural stiffness and dimensional stability, while the Teflon (PTFE) component acts as a built-in dry lubricant that eliminates the creaking and squeaking common with standard polyurethane bushings. No grease or lubricant is ever required, and the self-lubricating composite eliminates maintenance
  • Powder coated finish - applied after all fabrication, heat treatment, and shot peening steps are complete, the powder coat provides long-term corrosion and abrasion resistance while giving the bar a clean, factory-quality appearance in the wheel well
  • 100% made in Germany - manufactured in Germany at H&R's production facility to ISO 9001 quality management standards and TUV certification for safety and performance compliance
  • Lifetime warranty on the sway bar - H&R warrants the bar to be free from manufacturing defects for as long as the original purchaser owns both the bar and the vehicle; bushing warranty is 1 year

Product Description

The H&R 71750-24 is a 24mm adjustable rear sway bar for the Volkswagen MK5/MK6 Jetta, Golf V/GTI, Eos, and FWD Audi TT MK2 - all platforms sharing the PQ35 rear suspension architecture. As a direct bolt-on upgrade, it replaces the OEM rear stabilizer bar with a larger-diameter, higher-stiffness unit that meaningfully reduces body roll during cornering without introducing harshness or affecting ride quality on straight roads. A sway bar functions as a torsion spring that resists the chassis's tendency to roll relative to the axles during lateral loading - stiffening it increases the mechanical load transfer across the rear axle, which improves lateral grip and handling responsiveness by keeping the rear tires more evenly loaded through corners. The 24mm diameter produces significantly higher torsional stiffness than the OEM unit, delivering this benefit across a wide range of driving conditions from spirited urban driving to sustained canyon or track use.

The two-hole adjustable forged end provides two attachment positions for the sway bar end links. The inner position produces a longer effective lever arm and a slightly softer rear roll stiffness - suitable for a balanced daily driving setup or for reducing oversteer tendency on a lowered vehicle. The outer position shortens the lever arm and adds firmness to the rear, maximizing cornering balance and grip on a well-set-up suspension. This adjustability allows the owner to tune the bar's effective stiffness to their driving style, modification level, and tire selection without purchasing a different bar. Both positions are accessible without removing the bar from the vehicle once installed.

H&R manufactures all sway bars in Germany from 50CrV4 chromium-vanadium spring steel on proprietary bending machines designed and built in-house - the only approach H&R considers capable of forming the complex multi-radius curves required for a precise, no-modification fit in the wheel well. Every bar is shot peened and heat treated, and the forged ends are formed to final shape rather than machined from stock. The included Urethane/Teflon composite center mount bushings are H&R's proprietary formulation - the Teflon component acts as a permanent dry lubricant, eliminating the creaking and squeak common with standard polyurethane bushings and removing any need for lubrication or maintenance over the bar's lifetime. H&R warrants the sway bar itself for the life of the original owner's vehicle.
