Type: Brake Rotors - Slotted

Vehicle Fitment

  • 2022+ Lotus Emira (V6 3.5L Supercharged - all transmission variants) - Front axle
  • 2023+ Lotus Emira (i4 2.0L AMG Turbo - all transmission variants) - Front axle

Fitment Notes

  • Front axle only - sold as a pair (2 rotors); for the matching rear axle set, see GiroDisc A2-388 (350mm, 48 curved vanes, replacement rings D2-388)
  • Direct OE replacement - bolts to the factory front hubs and works with the factory 4-piston AP Racing front calipers without modification; no spacers, adapters, or recalibration required
  • Compatible with all Lotus Emira variants and both powertrain options (V6 and i4) - the front brake hardware is shared across powertrain variants
  • Factory brake bias and ABS calibration are fully preserved
  • When rotor rings wear out, only the D1-388 replacement rings need to be purchased - aluminum hats and all hardware are fully reusable

Features

  • Two-piece fully floating construction - high-carbon iron rotor ring joined to a black anodized 6061-T6 aircraft-specification aluminum hat via a floating spring clip and Belleville washer assembly; the two-piece design separates the friction surface from the mounting structure, allowing each to be optimized independently
  • High-carbon iron rotor rings machined from GiroDisc's proprietary casting formulated to their own metallurgical specifications - superior wear resistance and thermal consistency versus commodity cast iron
  • 72 curved internal vanes - act as a centrifugal pump pulling cooling air in through the hub and driving it outward through the disc as the rotor spins; the high vane count maximizes airflow through the disc cross-section for effective thermal management during track and sustained hard road use
  • Spring clips and Belleville washers - GiroDisc's race-ready floating hardware provides axial and radial float under braking loads while eliminating the cold-temperature rattle and clicking associated with looser floating designs; street-friendly from day one
  • Rotor self-centering - floating design allows the disc to self-center between the pads on release, reducing residual drag and promoting even pad wear across the swept surface
  • Slotted rotor surface - slots continuously sweep brake dust, gases, and debris from the pad contact face for consistent bite and resistance to glazing under hard use
  • Black anodized aluminum hat - corrosion-resistant finish with a clean visual appearance behind the factory AP Racing calipers
  • Rebuildable design - when rings wear out, only the D1-388 replacement rings need to be purchased; aluminum hats and all hardware are fully reusable
  • All major components manufactured in-house at GiroDisc's facility in Bellingham, WA from domestically sourced materials

Product Description

The GiroDisc A1-388 is a pair of two-piece floating slotted front brake rotors designed as a direct OE replacement for the 2022+ Lotus Emira - covering both the V6 3.5L supercharged and i4 2.0L AMG turbocharged powertrain variants. At 370 x 32 mm, the A1-388 matches the factory front rotor diameter used with the Emira's standard 4-piston AP Racing calipers, bolting directly onto the factory front hubs without any modification, spacer, or ABS recalibration. The only change from the OE configuration is structural: the heavy single-piece cast iron hat is replaced with a black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum hat, with the iron rotor ring mounted on a floating spring clip and Belleville washer assembly rather than being rigidly joined as a single casting.

The rotor rings are machined from GiroDisc's proprietary high-carbon iron casting, formulated to their own metallurgical specifications and produced entirely in-house at their Bellingham, WA facility from domestically sourced materials. The 72 curved internal vanes function as a centrifugal pump during rotation, pulling cooling air in through the hub and pushing it outward through the disc face - effectively lowering rotor temperature during sustained hard braking or repeated track use compared to the OE single-piece unit. The floating hardware system - spring clips and Belleville washers - provides axial and radial float under braking loads while eliminating the cold-temperature rattle that can occur with simpler floating designs, making the A1-388 fully appropriate for street use as well as track work.

The floating mount also allows the rotor to self-center between the pads each time braking force is released, reducing residual drag and promoting even wear across the full swept surface. When the rings eventually reach the end of their service life, only the D1-388 replacement rings need to be purchased - the aluminum hats and all hardware are fully reusable, keeping long-term running costs substantially lower than replacing full single-piece OE rotors. Owners requiring the rear axle set should order GiroDisc A2-388 (350 mm / 48 curved vanes / D2-388 rings). All GiroDisc A1-388 components are manufactured at GiroDisc's facility in Bellingham, WA.
