Vehicle Fitment

  • 2016+ Dodge Viper ACR (Gen 5) - models equipped with the OEM Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) front brake system only

Fitment Notes

  • This is an iron rotor conversion kit - it replaces the factory OEM CCM (Carbon Ceramic Matrix) front rotors with GiroDisc high-carbon iron two-piece floating rotors; it does not fit Viper models with standard iron OEM rotors (see A1-006 for those)
  • Compatible with OEM ACR front calipers - no caliper modifications required
  • A specific brake pad must be used: FMSI shape 1405 with a pad annulus (swept area) of 66mm or less - standard FMSI 1405 pads are also used on the Nissan GT-R, Cadillac CTS-V, and most AMG Mercedes with 6-piston front calipers
  • Do not use OEM CCM pads with these iron rotors - an incompatible pad will not bed in correctly and may damage the rotor surface
  • Sold as a pair (two front rotors)

Features

  • Converts the factory front CCM brake system to a serviceable, rebuildable high-carbon iron rotor setup - eliminates the high cost and fragility of OEM carbon ceramics while retaining direct bolt-on fitment
  • Two-piece fully floating design separates the 6061-T6 aluminum hat from the iron disc, preventing warp, reducing pad knockback, and allowing the rotor to self-center between the pads
  • GiroDisc proprietary high-carbon cast iron rotor rings - poured in the USA and machined in-house at GiroDisc from start to finish
  • 12 cadmium-plated high-strength alloy steel drive pins secured by class 12.9 cap screws with hardened washers - transfer braking torque while maintaining full axial and radial float
  • Anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side eliminate cold rattle while preserving float at operating temperature
  • Curved directional vane design acts as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc during braking - improves heat management and reduces fade
  • Fully rebuildable - replace only the cast iron rotor rings when worn; retain aluminum hats and hardware
  • Made entirely in the USA using domestically sourced materials

Product Description

The GiroDisc A1-165 is a front iron rotor conversion engineered specifically for the 2016+ Dodge Viper ACR Gen 5 equipped with the factory Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) brake system. OEM CCM rotors on the Viper ACR are extraordinarily expensive to replace - a single rotor can cost thousands of dollars - and they are susceptible to thermal shock cracking if not properly warmed up before hard use. The A1-165 converts that front CCM setup to GiroDisc's proven two-piece floating iron rotor system, giving ACR owners a robust, serviceable, and track-capable braking solution that bolts directly onto the OEM calipers without modification.

The A1-165 uses a reduced pad annulus design - requiring FMSI 1405 pads with a swept area of 66mm or less - to keep rotor weight at a competitive level while maximizing structural integrity. FMSI 1405 pads are widely used across the Nissan GT-R, Cadillac CTS-V, and many AMG Mercedes platforms, making compound selection straightforward. GiroDisc's 12-pin floating mount system, curved vane cooling design, and high-carbon proprietary iron rings deliver consistent, fade-resistant braking performance on track. When the iron rings eventually wear out, only the rings need replacement - the aluminum hats and hardware are retained, making long-term maintenance dramatically more affordable than replacing OEM CCM units. Made entirely in the USA.
