Fitment Notes

  • This valve is only compatible with vehicles that come equipped with a factory solenoid-type electronically controlled diverter valve from the factory. The DV+ retains the OEM solenoid coil - the ECU wiring, solenoid body, and mounting location remain entirely stock. Only the valve mechanism (piston/diaphragm assembly) is replaced. Vehicles with pneumatic (vacuum-actuated) diverter valves from the factory are not compatible.
  • If your vehicle has had an aftermarket turbo fitted from a different application, contact GFB to confirm fitment before ordering, as the solenoid body interface may differ from the factory configuration.
  • VW Passat B8 (MQB Platform, USA spec) 1.8/2.0 TSI (2015+): Installation is significantly more difficult than on other models due to the factory diverter valve being deeply buried in the engine bay. GFB explicitly notes that access is very tight on non-MQB-layout (USA) EA888 Gen3 configurations - a qualified technician is strongly recommended for these applications.
  • This is a full recirculation valve only - it cannot be converted to vent to atmosphere and will not produce a "whoosh" or audible blow-off sound. If atmospheric venting is desired, GFB offers separate DVX and VTA range products for select applications.
  • 50-state legal (CARB compliant) for USA use - California Air Resources Board Executive Order number D-844. When installed on a vehicle from the CARB-listed fitment, the included E.O. sticker must be placed under the hood in a readily visible location to comply with CARB regulations. The E.O. sticker must NOT be placed on vehicles not on the CARB fitment list.
  • Sold individually - one valve per package.
  • Important handling note: the brass piston is pre-checked for fitment before shipment. Do not drop the piston on a hard surface - even invisible damage to the piston can cause boost leaks or sticking after installation.

Features

  • Retains the factory ECU-controlled solenoid coil - the OEM solenoid coil opens faster than any pneumatic valve because it is directly controlled by the ECU, which can modulate the valve based on manifold pressure, engine load, and throttle position. By keeping the factory solenoid rather than replacing it with a pneumatic or standalone valve, the DV+ responds faster under all operating conditions than traditional aftermarket blow-off valve replacements.
  • Pilot-actuated operation (TMS Advantage) - rather than having the solenoid directly push or pull the valve piston (which limits the solenoid's ability to close the valve reliably at high boost), GFB's pilot-actuation system uses the solenoid to control an air pressure signal that actuates the piston. This means the piston opens and closes in response to actual boost pressure - not limited by the solenoid's mechanical force - allowing the valve to reliably open and close at any boost level including extreme built-motor pressures.
  • Progressive opening proportional to boost pressure - unlike the factory valve which simply opens or closes (binary operation), the DV+ piston opens progressively in proportion to the boost pressure applied, opening only as much as required for the actual boost level present. This results in improved throttle response compared to the factory valve, and avoids the compressor surge and turbo flutter that over-opening can cause.
  • Capable of holding upwards of 50 psi - the brass piston and anodized billet aluminum housing maintain a proper seal at boost pressures that exceed what any factory valve or traditional diaphragm-type aftermarket valve can handle, making the DV+ equally suited to stock engines, chipped/tuned engines, and extreme built-motor applications without requiring springs or valve swaps as power increases.
  • Replaces all weak plastic valve components with durable metal - the factory diverter valve mechanism uses plastic pistons, fragile diaphragms, or both. The DV+ replaces all of these with an anodized billet aluminum housing and a CNC-machined brass piston, eliminating the two most common factory valve failure modes: diaphragm rupture under high boost/temperature and piston leakage from poor plastic-to-housing sealing.
  • Solves boost leaking and boost drop-off - factory piston-type diverter valves leak by design and leak progressively worse as boost pressure increases. The DV+'s machined-to-tolerance brass piston and silicon/Viton face seal eliminate this leak path, delivering all available boost to the engine and improving boost retention at high RPM in high-boost builds.
  • Faster boost recovery on gear shifts - by sealing more effectively and opening more precisely during throttle lift between gear changes, the DV+ allows compressor pressure to be retained longer during the shift, reducing the time required to rebuild boost on the next gear's acceleration run.
  • Direct bolt-on installation - snaps onto the existing factory solenoid coil in the factory mounting location using the factory mounting bolts (longer replacement bolts included). No vacuum hose runs, no intake manifold tapping, no wiring changes, and no ECU modifications required.
  • 50-state legal (CARB EO D-844) - the DV+ carries a California Air Resources Board Executive Order number, qualifying it for legal installation on emission-controlled vehicles in all 50 US states for the vehicles on the CARB fitment list.

Product Description

The GFB T9351 DV+ (Direct Valve Plus) with TMS Advantage is the definitive aftermarket diverter valve upgrade for VAG (Volkswagen-Audi Group) and European turbocharged applications using ECU-controlled solenoid-type diverter valves. Unlike competing products that discard the entire factory diverter system and replace it with a slower pneumatic or standalone BOV - requiring vacuum hose routing, intake manifold tapping, additional solenoid wiring, and ballast resistors - the DV+ takes a fundamentally different approach: keep what works, replace what doesn't. The factory solenoid coil is retained because it is genuinely excellent - the ECU can open and actuate it faster than any pneumatic valve, responding to boost pressure, load, and throttle position with ECU-level precision. What GFB replaces are the weak valve components: the fragile diaphragms and leaking plastic pistons that fail reliably on any tuned or high-boost engine.

The DV+ valve body is machined from billet aluminum and hard anodized, housing a CNC-machined brass piston with a silicon or Viton face seal that maintains a genuine boost-proof seal at pressures upwards of 50 psi - far beyond what any factory valve or diaphragm-type aftermarket valve can achieve. GFB's TMS (Turbo Management System) pilot-actuation system separates the solenoid's actuation signal from the mechanical force that moves the piston - instead, the solenoid controls a boost pressure signal that proportionally opens the piston, allowing the valve to open only as much as the current boost level requires. This progressive opening improves throttle response, eliminates compressor surge, and ensures the valve reliably closes at any boost level without exceeding the solenoid's mechanical capability. Installation requires no tools beyond basic hand tools - the DV+ body snaps onto the factory solenoid coil and the assembly remounts to the factory location using the included longer bolts.

The T9351 is 50-state legal for US vehicles - it carries California Air Resources Board Executive Order number D-844 for the vehicles on the CARB fitment list, and includes the required E.O. sticker for compliance. The DV+ covers an exceptionally wide range of VAG applications from Audi A3/A4/A5/A6/TT/TTS/TTRS/RS3/Q5 through VW Golf GTI/Golf R/Jetta/Passat/Tiguan/Scirocco/EOS, Skoda Octavia/Superb, and Porsche Macan - spanning EA113 and EA888 Gen1/Gen2/Gen3 engine families across multiple chassis generations. Backed by GFB's lifetime replacement warranty to the original owner, the T9351 is made in Australia and available through authorized GFB dealers worldwide.
