Vehicle Fitment

  • Universal Fit - Compatible with any turbo diesel vehicle equipped with a vacuum-operated, ECU-controlled VNT (Variable Nozzle Turbine) or VGT (Variable Geometry Turbine) turbocharger

Fitment Notes

  • Designed exclusively for vacuum-actuated VNT/VGT turbocharger systems - NOT compatible with turbos using a traditional pneumatic pressure-actuated wastegate (use GFB 3001 Atomic or GFB 3006/3007 D-Force for those applications)
  • Takes over from the factory ECU vacuum control circuit to the VNT/VGT actuator - the ECU electrical connections remain intact but the boost control function is replaced by the V2
  • Particularly recommended for vacuum-operated VNT/VGT diesel engines known to suffer erratic or unstable factory boost curves, including applications where factory boost control has led to turbo or engine failures even on completely stock vehicles
  • Hose routing and connection method will vary between vehicles - refer to GFB's installation instructions for vehicle-specific guidance
  • GFB recommends that only a qualified automotive technician installs this product
  • Intended for motorsport and performance use - owner is responsible for compliance with local regulations regarding boost modifications
  • Not for sale or use on emissions-controlled vehicles in California

Features

  • Dedicated VNT/VGT manual boost controller - purpose-engineered for vacuum-operated variable vane turbochargers, addressing the fundamental instability and erratic boost behaviour known to occur with factory ECU vacuum control on many diesel applications
  • Dual independent adjustment dials - Dial 1 sets peak boost pressure; Dial 2 independently controls the boost rise rate (spool speed), allowing separate tuning of how hard the turbo builds boost and when it caps out
  • Replaces the factory ECU vacuum control with a stable, repeatable, and mechanically reliable boost curve - eliminates the unpredictable factory behaviour that can cause turbo and engine damage even on stock vehicles
  • Set-and-forget operation - once both dials are set to the desired boost pressure and rise rate, the V2 delivers that curve consistently with no further adjustment needed
  • 100% mechanical, zero-maintenance design - no electronics, no solenoids in the control path, no components to fail or degrade
  • Precision needle valve bleed system - more stable and repeatable than ball-and-spring type designs
  • CNC-machined from 6061 aluminium billet with a black anodized finish for durability and corrosion resistance
  • Compact body packages both adjustment dials in a single clean housing for simple under-hood installation
  • Manufactured in Australia under ISO 9001 quality management standards
  • Backed by GFB's limited lifetime warranty

Product Description

The Go Fast Bits 3009 D-Boost V2 is a manual boost controller designed exclusively for turbo diesel vehicles equipped with vacuum-operated VNT (Variable Nozzle Turbine) or VGT (Variable Geometry Turbine) turbochargers. It exists to solve a specific and well-documented problem: many diesel engines with vacuum-controlled VNT/VGT turbos suffer from erratic, unstable factory boost curves - a characteristic of the ECU's vacuum solenoid control system that, in some cases, can lead to turbo and engine failures on completely standard, unmodified vehicles. The V2 bypasses this instability by taking over the vacuum control function from the factory ECU circuit, replacing the unpredictable factory boost behaviour with a smooth, stable, and repeatable curve that the installer defines.

The V2's standout feature is its dual-dial design, housed within a compact CNC-machined 6061 aluminium body with a black anodized finish. The two dials serve completely independent functions - the first sets the target boost pressure, and the second controls the boost rise rate, determining how aggressively the variable vanes close and how fast the turbo spools to the set pressure. Having independent control over both parameters in a single unit is a significant advantage over single-dial designs, as it allows the installer to separately tune peak boost and the shape of the spool-up curve to suit towing loads, daily driving, or performance use without one adjustment compromising the other. Once both dials are set, the V2 holds those parameters reliably and consistently with no further intervention required.

The V2 is a fully mechanical device - there are no electronics in the control circuit, no solenoids, and no components subject to electrical failure or degradation. The precision needle valve system provides a more stable and repeatable response than ball-and-spring alternatives, delivering consistent results across varying temperatures and driving conditions. Installation requires connecting the V2 into the existing vacuum circuit between the factory ECU solenoid and the VNT/VGT actuator - the factory electrical connections remain in place to prevent fault codes. The 3009 is manufactured in Australia under ISO 9001 quality management standards and is backed by GFB's limited lifetime warranty. For applications requiring electronic boost control with presets, scramble, and EGT monitoring on a VNT/VGT diesel, GFB's D-Force series (3006 or 3007) is the recommended alternative.
